Staff is all set for the April 12 opening. Programs are transitioning this week. The goal for staff is great customer service - to either respond or volunteer to get the answer; to maintain a good attitude and stay on top of issues. • The athletic fields are on target for mid-August for soccer. The walking trail is 98% complete and is just under 1/2 mile long. • The boundary trees were put in today, but they are the wrong ones. The vendor will be replacing them. • The extra lot at the end of Community will be turfed over and left vacant for general usage by Tri Sports. • The marquees are being delivered on April 12. Installation will take up to 3 days. Colonial is "way exciting Tim did a walk through today - it is almost ready for a Parks Board tour! The Friends Guild will have a tour on May 19. • The tennis courts are in progress. • There will be floor to ceiling file in the dressing rooms. • The multipurpose area will be available all year for rentals. • The concession contract is running behind. • There has been no progress on the fence (to allow the west end to be used as a park when Colonial Park is not open) In response to questions, Tim said that 1) About 200 memberships to the Rec Center have been sold. Approximately 33% of those are subsidized (over 65 or disabled) and 26 are non-residents. 2) The Rec Center playground should be ready by early to mid May, based on an April 17 delivery of the equipment. VI. Friends Board Report - Leah Raigiel The Friends Board met this morning. They voted to allocate $100,000 to pay for extra shade structure and play structures at Colonial Park. The City will pay for half of Rec Center development ($75,000), until Friends has the funds available. The Parks Board must approve this arrangement. VII. Staff Reports - Tim O'Connor • Janine expressed concern about the new Piranhas time trial policy. She feels that West University Place resident children should be given priority and that the new policy could result in those children being excluded, while non-resident children could be included,
