Citizen Comments: None IV. Parks Board Expectations Fallow Up - Teresa Edmondson Teresa briefly reviewed our discussion from the March meeting, and then posed the question of how we define what success looks like. a. Janine - We are almost at the completion of new facilities. We want to help ensure a good customer experience and make everyone feel at home, like these are their parks. 's We should also be ambassadors for the new facilities b. Leah - We need to get out in front of PLB 2011. The funds will go to Judson Park. How do we make sure that all the stakeholders are involved? The Friends need to have the park design and development aspects firmed up at least two months before PLB in order to solicit donations effectively. • Tim said that we should start the planning process in August. The committee should include members from Friends (3 - 4), the Park Ambassador, some other members of the Parks Board and other (neighborhood) stakeholders. The last group had four meetings. Staff brings in the vendor (T F Harper) to review existing f equipment and assist in identifying the direction. The committee has no chair, but rather runs by consensus, with staff handling the logistics. • The next step is that Friends looks at the plan and decides if they can pay for it. The Parks Board reviews the plan which is then submitted to Council, because they have to approve the expenditure by Friends • Leah said that the chairs for PLB 2011 have already been appointed. The band has been hired and they are looking for a venue. She indicated that there might be people who don't want to attend the ball, but if the design/plan is out there, they may want to contribute separately. c. Russ - We are at the end of a long haul with getting the new facilities. Now we need to monitor those facilities and do what we can to help ensure success. We need to get back to the land acquisition effort. We also must continue to provide support for special projects (classical concerts, Fathers and Flashlights, tennis tournament, movies in the park). • Sona remarked that Huffington Park is the perfect size. d. Tim - The redevelopment of the 4 parks and the new facilities all speak volumes about the level of effort put forth by the board in the last couple of years. He would like to receive more feedback more often from park ambassadors
