CITY COUNCIL SPECIAL WORKSHOP MINUTES
City Council of the City of West University Place, Texas, met in a special workshop session
Wednesday, August 24, 2011, in the Municipal Building Conference Room, 3800 University
Boulevard, West University Place, Texas beginning at 5:30 p.m.
Council and staff in attendance: Mayor Fry, Mayor Pro Tern Fry, and Councilmembers Heathcott,
Johnson, and Yehle, and City Secretary Lenz.
Notice of the meeting was duly posted in accordance with the Texas Government Code, Chapter 551.
CALL TO ORDER
Mayor Fry called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. to discuss the following:
1. Board and Committee Interviews
City Council interviewed candidates for the various City boards and commissions.
At 8:44 p.m., Councilmember Yehle moved to recess the public session. Councilmember Johnson
seconded the motion. MOTION PASSED.
Ayes:
Fry, Sample, Heathcott, Johnson, Yehle
Noes:
None
Absent:
None
2. Executive Session
At 8:44 p.m., Councilmember Yehle moved to convene into closed session to discuss candidates
for the statutory boards pursuant to Chapter 551 of the Texas Government Code, Section 551.074
(a) (1) to deliberate the appointment, employment, evaluation, reassignment, duties, discipline, or
dismissal of a public officer or employee. Councilmember Johnson seconded the motion. MOTION
PASSED.

At 9:30 p.m., Mayor Pro Tern Sample moved to adjourn the closed session. Councilmember
Johnson seconded the motion. MOTION PASSED.

3. Convene into Open Session and Take Action, If Necessary
At 9:30 p.m., Councilmember Heathcott moved to reconvene the public session. Councilmember
Johnson seconded the motion. MOTION PASSED.

Recycling and Solid Waste Reduction Board and the Parks and Recreation Board. After
discussions, Councilmember Johnson moved to approve appointment of the following members to
