Donor Recognition and Sponsorship Development - Steve Primrose (not present)
Recognition Wall Concepts and Next Steps:
Continued work has narrowed the design features, locations, and vendors for the donor recognition walls. The design
should: 1. be professional and esteemed but remain cost effective; and 2. have both static and dynamic elements to
keep them interesting, appealing. All agree the best locations for the walls will be at the Recreation Center and
Colonial Park pool facilities but final locations at these facilities still need to be determined. The search for vendors
has now been narrowed to two: Partners in Design and BabendureWheat. The first is a turnkey provider and the
second is a design firm with significant experience. Both are practical, creative, cost effective, and either would be a
good choice.
The next step is to finalize the design features and gain necessary approvals to proceed. Partners in Design
has provided an initial rendering at no charge (refinements/changes will cost and this can be used to help people get
a visual on the concept. Regardless of vendor chosen, we need to spend some money to finalize the design we want.
I believe we should seek approval from the board to spend up to $3k to finalize the design and gain final
endorsements/approvals from Parks and Rec, the other appropriate city boards, and city council. Overall costs
including design & construction are estimated to be $10-12k per wall (8'x4' in size).
Leah Ragiel noted that this is cost effective particularly based on the nearly $4 million raised by Friends to date. She
suggested that a motion be made that the Friends board commits to allocating up to $15k as funds become available
for the design and implementation of a donor recognition wall for past, present and future significant donors at either
the Rec Center or Colonial Park. It was noted that it makes the most sense to put the donor recognition vehicle at the
Rec Center since it is open year around and would have the highest visibility. Susan Sample made the motion that the
Friends board commits to allocating up to $15k as funds become available for the design and implementation of a
donor recognition wall for past, present and future significant donors at either the Rec Center or Colonial Park and
Heather Chilivetis seconded the motion.

Pavers - Matthew Foytlin (not present)
Following is a summary of recent activities on the pavers front:
Paver Orders: I sent the first round of paver orders to David at Promodular. As with Colonial Park/Rec Center, he
is providing me with a spreadsheet for my review. We should see the spreadsheet either this week or the next. I
would like to get a few more orders, though, to offset the installation fee.
Promodular Database It looks like David and his engraver either cannot create a database or do not believe the
current volume of paver orders justifies a database for orders. While that may be true for the current influx of orders
(3-4 at a time), we hope to have several more in the upcoming weeks. At this point, we should consider whether we
forego this database or consider other suppliers who have existing databases or the ability to create such a database for
the donors to proof their paver orders.
Paver Companies During the course of his duties, Steve Primrose came across an out-of-state company
that provides paver inscription services. Putting aside logistical issues (i.e., can they fabricate pavers to the
dimensions/colors or existing pavers), this may be an alternative, since they can ship the pavers directly to us. This
option would obviate the installation fee charged by Promodular, assuming we could coordinate with West U Parks for
installation.
