HomeMy WebLinkAboutF Minutes120110_Page_2Citv Council - George Boehme Briefly provided overview of issues Council is currently focusing on including the popularity of Buffington Park and the parking issues associated with that, Council is working on finding a balance that works for all. The tagging of the AT & T property by the Rec Center has been cleaned up and thanks to AT & T for doing it so quickly. Working on improving video surveillance of all City facilities. Executive Director's Report - Donna LaMond Everyone should be getting the emailed weekly reports forwarded from the Parks & Rec. Department which includes information on Friends activities. If at any time anyone would like more details than what is provided in the weekly reports, I will be happy to provide them. • Fathers & Flashlights: Got the net number established with help from Susan White and Amy Sahely. We just cannot say thank you enough to chairs Courtney and Scott Archer and Anne and John Freeman. Thanks also to the Parks and Rec Department. I am currently trying to schedule a meeting with the new chairs the week of Dec. 13''. • PLB 2011, underwriting campaign is going at full steam. Jennifer Debow and Amy Reeves are in full forward motion along with Elizabeth Allen, the underwriting chair. Auction Tracker is up and running on the remote server and Sue Hanna is inputting the auction items for us. Susie Boyce is our reservations person again this year. Wine Pull event at Little Matt's Dec. 1 at 7:30 p.m. Remember that each board member is responsible for at least 5 auction items each with a value of $100 minimum. Additionally, each board member is responsible for putting together at least one underwriting table. • Friends Board - Welcome to Heather Chilivetis, our newest Friends board member who is handling our public relations needs. She has hit the ground running, with four or so press releases already done. Leah and I did meet with Sonny Brandtner and agreed that he will make a great addition to our board. He will be focusing on event support, a new and evolving Friends board position. His board appointment recommendation is on the Consent Agenda at the Dec. 6 City Council meeting. So while his board appointment is not yet official, we look forward to welcoming Sonny to the board next week. • Friends Guild - Holiday coffee this coming Friday at the home of Julie Jackson, 4106 Rice Blvd. We are hoping to recruit new guild members. Adrienne could not be present today for our meeting, but did send a report. • Continuing to update new Friends website as needed • Naming and sponsorship opportunities/donor recognition vehicles - Steve Primrose has been spearheading this effort as Leah will report on Steve's behalf later in the meeting. Treasurer's Report - Amv Sahely - Reports attached to minutes. Board Reports: EVENTS Fathers & Flashlights 2010-Anne Freeman & Courtney Archer Funds raised for West U Parks through the 2010 event is $52,700 net! New chairs for 2011 event in place and ready to go. Park Lovers' Ball 2011- Jennifer Debow and Amy Reeves (not present) $60,450 in underwriting to date. Numbers more than double where we have been at this point in previous years. Fun plans for the ball include living statues and a photo booth. In need of trips for the auction, need items for men, need airline tickets, need dog for the live auction, invitations going out the first week in January. Wine Pull at Little Matt's scheduled for this evening to collect wine for the ball. Jim Reid is donating the venue and most of the wine and appetizers for the Wine Pull Girl's Night Out.
