RESOLUTION NO. 2010-09
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WEST
UNIVERSITY PLACE, TEMPORARILY WAIVING THE APPLICATION
OF SECTION 10-10 OF THE WEST UNIVERSITY PLACE CITY CODE
WHEREAS, the City of West University Place, Texas (the "City") is hosting the
Harris County Mayor's and Council's Association (the "HCMCA") meeting on
August 19, 2010 at the City's new Recreation Center; and
WHEREAS, by hosting the HCMCA meeting at the City's new Recreation Center,
the City will have the opportunity to show-case this new facility for elected officials from
the entire Harris County area; and
WHEREAS, HCMCA meeting traditionally includes a dinner at which a cash bar
is available; and
WHEREAS, Section 10-10 of the City Code prohibits alcoholic beverages at
municipal facilities.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WEST UNIVERSITY PLACE, TEXAS
That the recitals set forth above are found to be true and correct.
2. The application of Section 10-10 of the City Code is hereby waived for
purposes of the hosting of the HCMCA meeting at the West University Place Recreation
Center on August 19, 2010.
3. That the City Manager is authorized to take such action as may be
appropriate to implement this Resolution.
4. This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage and
adoption.
