Tim provided an update on the Recreation Facilities. He indicated that Rec Ctr is 80%
complete and on schedule. Colonial Park is 15% complete and that weather issues
continued to be an issue. Trees had to be shored up as a result. He indicated that
residents reported being very impressed with how clean the streets were being kept around
the construction site. Colonial Park is still scheduled for a May 29th opening.
New landscaping work was completed and residents are very pleased. The clock at Friends
Park is now working again. It has been decided that the Easter Egg Hunt will be located at
the Scout House for 2010, and that there will not be a "Meet the City" event this year.
At the corner of Edloe and University, a tree will be replaced.
VIII. Board Reports - none
IX. New Business
Scheduled Tour of Parks & Facilities - Due to excessive rain and busy schedules, a tour of
the new facilities will be scheduled in early January, 2010.
Tennis Court Use Policies - Tim passed out a page summarizing key issues that had been
experienced regarding use of the Tennis Courts. He suggested that instead of allowing
reservations for the Tennis Courts, that we move to a first-come, first-served approach. It
is very time consuming for staff members to deal with reservations. Various options for
addressing this were discussed, including considering setting up an "online" reservation
schedule, etc. It was agreed that further research into alternative ideas would be pursued
and brought back to the Board for consideration.
Adjournment: The meeting was adjourned at 8:20 pm and a group photo of PRB Members
was taken.
The next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, January 6th, 2010 at 6:30 pm in the Bill Watson
Conference Room.
