I. Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 6:30 pm by Chairman Russ Schulze.
II. Citizen Comments - excluding the Recreation Center redevelopment - none
IV. Recreation Center Conceptual Plans
Russ indicated that basketball courts are "off the table" for this phase of the project.
Helen objected and said that she was not provided with an opportunity to provide input on
the subject.
Jeff Gerber said that the construction project management firm, Tellepsen, is now under
contract. The lead paint and asbestos abatement is in process and the demolition bids for
both the Recreation Center and Colonial Park were received today.
He then reviewed the key design objectives for the redevelopment of the Recreation
Center:

Controlled access
2.
Dispersion of traffic
3.
Day lighting and views
4.
Privacy
5.
Staff work areas
6.
Building efficiencies
He acknowledged that the large spaces (large multipurpose room, weight and cardio
studios, multipurpose courts) limit our flexibility in moving elements within the proposed
Recreation Center structure. He also said that TriSports had agreed to the reduction of the
ball fields to 180 feet.
Michael Ross added that TriSports indicated their agreement especially if the reduction
allows for
Charles May said that he had been hoping for a larger workout area and wanted to be able
to see the pool from the workout areas. He thinks that the restrooms/locker rooms seem
cramped.
Jeff said that they have gone 25-30% above the guidelines for restroom/locker room
facilities, and that "there will never be enough".
