RE: 4144 Coleridge Street, Houston, Texas 77005
Lot 3, Block 19, Colonial Terrace, Section C
Dear Mr. Paripovich:
The undersigned represents Lawrence and Judith McDowell in connection with a recent
order concerning the McDowell's property located at 4144 Coleridge. Such order, which was
the result of an appeal by my clients, directed the McDowell's to seek a permit for remediation
work on their property by November 1, 2008 and to complete the work by December 31, 2008.
While the date by which the permit must be obtained is a non-issue, the catastrophic destruction
caused by Hurricane Ike has made the date to complete the work problematic.
I am sure you are aware the recent storm damaged many residential and commercial
properties in and around Harris County. The result has been that finding qualified contractors
who are available to perform the necessary remediation work are extremely hard to locate. As a
result, my clients will likely be unable to complete the necessary work on their home within the
specified December 31, 2008 time frame.
My clients have been in communication with several contractors, who have assured them
that the required house repair can be finished by the end of January, 2009. For this reason we
request that the City of West University Place extend the date by which the McDowell's must
complete the repairs by 30 days.
My clients and I are unsure if this request for a thirty (30) day extension may be
accomplished informally through this communication or must be pursued through a formal
hearing. Please review our request and advise us what we must do to seek the relief requested.
