Recycled Paper Notice of Building & Standards Commission Meeting
Notice is hereby given that the Building & Standards Commission (BSC) and members
of the City Council of the City of West University Place, Texas will hold a meeting on:
September 4, 2008
Beginning at 6:00 P.M.
In the Municipal Building, Bill Watson Conference Room,
Located at 3800 University Blvd, West University Place, Texas 77005.
The subjects of the meeting are as follows:
[Call to Order.]
1. Notices, Rules, Etc. Matters relating to announcements, notices, introductions, rules, meeting
procedures and identifying parties.
2. Meeting Minutes. Matters relating to discussion and approval of the meeting minutes of August
7, 2008.
3. Docket Number 08-03 regarding an appeal of a decision by the Urban Forester and a
variance to Section 82-5 of the Code of Ordinances requiring replacement plantings for
unauthorized damage to a 34" pecan tree at 6020 Fordham.
a. Public Hearing regarding matters relating to a request by Chirawat and Kulsurang
Bodeepong to appeal the decision of the Urban Forester and request a variance to allow
damage to a 34" pecan tree without replacement plantings, subject to review in two years.
b. Deliberation, decisions, other action, etc. regarding the preceding matter.
4. Docket Number 08-04 regarding a request for a variance to Section 18-171 of the Code of
Ordinances to allow a swimming pool to be setback three feet from the western side
property line instead of the required five feet at 3308 Amherst Street.
a. Public Hearing regarding matters relating to a request by Mohammed Defrawi to grant a
variance to allow a swimming pool to be constructed three feet from the side property
line instead of the required five feet.
b. Deliberation, decisions, other action, etc. regarding the preceding matters.
5. Basements and other Subterranean Structures. Matters relating to excavations and other
subterranean structures, including possible code amendments.
6. Urban Forest Code Amendments. Matters relating to the urban forest, tree protection and tree
preservation, including possible code amendments.

MEETING PLACE MENTIONED ABOVE IS ACCESSIBLE BY WHEEL CHAIRS BY USING THE SLOPED
RAMP LOCATED AT THE WEST ENTRANCE TO THE MUNICIPAL BUILDING. SPEMLLY MARKED
PARKING SPACES ARE AVAILABLE IN THE PARKING LOT ADJOINING UNIVERSITYBOULEVARD.
