Board of Directors' Meeting
June 6, 2001
City Hall Conference Room
3800 University Blvd.
1. The meeting was called to order by Linda Gray at 6:25 P.M. Those in attendance
were: Joni Fichter, Sue Hanna, Mark Mailes, Linda Gray, Gayle Jackson, Mike
Koinis, Ross Frazer, Alisa Starbird and PLB Chairperson Maria Elena Herbst
2. The minutes of the May meeting were approved.
3. Ross Frazer reported that we have $655,747.63 total cash on hand. 2001 PLB
gross revenues were $233,622;expenses were $82,533, and net was around
$151,000.
4. Reports:
a. Foundations: No report
b. Homeplace: No report
c. Pavers: Newest batch should be run next week and be in hand by the end
of the month
d. Randall's Card: No report
e. Water Bill Check Off: No report
f. Public Relation
g. Park Lovers Ball: Maria Elena Herbst, 2002 Ball Chair introduced herself,
and told us the name of the 2002 ball will be Where The Wild Things Play.
The date for the event is 2/9/02. Maria Elena passed around a sheet with
positions to be filled for the upcoming ball. Sue Hanna will do underwriting
and auction checkout; a meeting with NPS will be scheduled soon; Gayle
Jackson will be donor recognition chair and reservations chair; need a clean
up coordinator; there was some discussion on the website; Joni to ask Donna
LaMond if her husband Mark would be willing to do a website for us again
this year, and at what charge; was mentioned that we would like to link our
website with others in city
Linda Gray again asked for a job description from each committee head;
needs to say exactly what position entails and how long each activity takes
There is the official wrap up meeting for PLB 2001 and the kick off for the
PLB 2002 at Linda Gray's home on June 7.
h. Golf Shirt Sales: No report
5. Old Business:
YMCA: No report
Membership: No report
Bill Hall Memorial: authorizing insurance for the builder; get architect to put
final stamp on the plans (maybe Gary Chandler) after Kathy, Bill's sister
approves design
Elena Chapel Walton Memorial - Joni talked to Sheridan Walton who said she
would like to do something in Weir Park fairly immediately
Cow Parade Cow: unable to give contribution from Friends
6. New Business: Linda and Mark to get together with the architects and come up
with a wish list for our parks
7. Adjournment: Linda reminded us that there is to be no July meeting. Next
meeting will be August 1.
