1. Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 6:34 pm by Chairman Russ Schulze.
II. Citizen Comments: There were no citizen comments.

IV. Friends Board Report: Russ Schulze read Joni Fichter's Friends Board Report which was
submitted by e-mail and distributed at the meeting.
Janine suggested that the newly formed Friend's Guild might be able to assist in encouraging
friends and neighbors to complete the parks survey. Russ will be speaking at the upcoming Guild
meeting on November 9 and will explore the idea with them.
V. Acquisition Sub-Committee: Russ Schulze ed that the Corondo Court property
purchase
has closed.
Chuck Guffey indicated that it was doubtful that the Marlowe property would be considered as a
candidate property for park/green space.
Tim O'Connor feels that we should focus on Friends Park (Rice and Auden) as the model for
neighborhood green space.
V1. rarK viannmg Project: Russ Schulze reported that the Carter & Burgess park survey has been
distributed.
Mardi Turner pointed out the lack of anonymity for respondents, due to the reverse tri-fold
construction of the survey itself.
Janine Schuppert reminded everyone to get the word out about getting the survey completed and
submitted in a timely manner. Tim O'Connor indicated that as many as 3500 household from
various mailing lists have received a-mails encouraging participation and that information about the
survey is appearing on the marquees, in the local press, and in the West U Elementary School
"Pony Express".
In response to a question from Janine, Tim said that Carter and Burgess hopes to make a
presentation regarding the survey results early in 2008, either in a regular City Council session or
in a special meeting.
Janine expressed concern about people who have said they did not receive the survey mailing.
Tim will make arrangements for those people to receive a new survey either by mail or
electronically.
Janine also asked that the board be kept informed on the number of surveys that have been
returned.

Staff Report_
S: Tim O'Connor submitted a written departmental update for September and
October, 2007.
VIII. Board Reports: In response to a question from Mardi Turner, Tim told the meeting that
Scout John Lamond has not yet received approval for his Eagle Scout project at Whitt Johnson
Park. Tim will follow up with John on his status. Planting may have to be delayed until next
spring.
Tim and staff are going to explore a collaboration with one or more indoor swimming facilities to
provide an aquatic venue for the winter in the absence of "the bubble".
Fathers and Flashlight funds may be used for new playground equipment at Huffington Park.
IX. New Business: Dave Agerton asked Tim to explore the possibility of using some of the city-
owned properties on Community (at Marquette, Amherst, and Byron) as green space.
