I. Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 6:36 pm by Chairman Russ Schulze.
II. Citizen Comments: There were no citizen comments.
III. November Minutes: The minutes of the November 11 meeting were approved.
IV. Friends Board Report: Russ Schulze read Joni Fichter's Friends Board Report which was
submitted by e-mail and distributed at the meeting.
V. Acquisition Sub-Committee: Russ Schulze reported that there has been no further progress on
park acquisition. There is not yet a timeline for the demolition of the Corondo Court property.
VI. Park Planning Project: We have received 1100 responses to the park survey, and the data are
are
being correlated. Tim spoke with Carter and Burgess and they would like to have a small review
session prior to their presentation to Council which is scheduled for January 14.
Janine asked if residents can still submit surveys. Tim said yes, but they may not be included in
the initial assessment.
Russ asked Tim to find out how many surveys were returned as undeliverable.
VII. Staff Reports: Tim O'Connor submitted a written departmental update for November, 2007.
Janine asked if newspaper clippings could be included in the planned records retention project.
Tim thinks this is a good idea.
She also asked if Tim would check with Pershing Middle School about the availability of their indoor
pool for West University residents. Tim will follow up.
Janine then suggested that we should make a practice of having rain dates or alternate plans for
our larger events like Meet the City/Arbor Day and the tree lighting ceremony.
Helen wanted to know if we could deliver truckloads of sand to some of the parks for the kids to
play in. She also congratulated Tim on the new on-line newsletter.
VIII. Board Reports: Mardi Turner reported that she and Helen had met with Eagle Candidate
John Lamond and Greg Thompson (Thompson and Hanson) at Whitt Johnson Park to discuss the
landscaping plans. We have all agreed to defer planting until the spring.
Both Janine and Charles expressed concern about some conditions on the children's plavground at
Colonial Park. Tim will look into it.
IX. New Business: The January meeting date will be moved to the 16t", after the Carter and
Burgess presentation to Council on January 14.
X. Adjournment: The meeting was adjourned at 7:40 pm by Chairman Schulze.
