Call to order. Meeting was called to order at approximately 7:35 p.m. II. Approval of Minutes. June 14, 2000 minutes were approved. III. Citizen's Requests and/or Miscellaneous Staff Reports. Review and Discussion on Colonial Park Pool. Operating hours at Colonial Park Pool discussed. Reviewed suggestions and implementation. (See Attachment) Discussion ensued regarding utilization of pool and recreation facilities. IV. Animal Recreation Facility - Karen Guerrero and Faith Bowie. A special presentation was given by Karen Guerrero and Faith Bowie. Guests gave an overview of historic progress of council and committee approvals. Reviewed council concerns about liability. Reviewed nationwide comparisons of similar facilities. Mentioned potential fee structure and registration requirements that could be incorporated into plan. Emphasized enthusiasm in community as evidenced by "dog walk" event of earlier in the year, and the existence of West U. animal shelter. Discussion ensued among members and guests. Will Bertron challenged committee to develop hard estimates for development and maintenance of park along with pricing/revenue projections that a fee structure could support. In addition, Will requested an overview on liability issues. V. Discussion Items. a. JMH. Will Bertron reported that negotiations are underway between a private party and JMH to purchase land and store. b. YMCA. John Graf reported on meeting between Linda Lewis and Dick Weekley. Seller is in possession of $4.9 million appraisal. Discussions are underway to determine if city will request buyer's appraisal. C. Whitt Johnson Park. Update on gravel problems; alternatives discussed. d. Edloe Linear Park. No update. e. Judson Park, TTF. Will Bertron reported on Transportation Task Force proposal to council. f. Master Parks Plan. Will Bertron reported that Jim Patterson is nearing completion. g. Bill Hall Memorial. Drawings complete. Will Bertron has requested updated cost estimate. h. Gateways. Shermon Yehl will get proposal from Jim Patterson on Gateway development. VII. Adjournment. Pool closed on Friday mornings?- We agreed that we would open the pool at 5:00 AM on Friday for lap sw4-~++rs.. 2. Workout room on Friday AM- We also agreed that the workout room 6 racquetball could open at 5:00 AM on Fridays and could actually remain open during the maintenance period. 3. Earlier hours in the summer on weekdays?- You agreed to look at the lesson schedule and consider if the pool could open any earlier, perhaps at 11:00. 4. Number of lanes limited to la swimming during "open swim,""- We agreed that during all free swim and family swim times, the number of lap swimming lanes would be reduced to one full lane and the shorter lane. 5. We agreed that opening the pool earlier on Sundays, . perhaps Noon, might better serve our residents. This could begin as soon as you can notify the guards that the Sunday shift will begin at Noon rather than 1:00.
