Discussed opening the pool and rec. center for Adult lap swim and gym workouts on Friday morning at same time as other mornings. People choosing to working out during this time will have to work around employees cleaning the facility Friday mornings before noon. Decided to reduce the number of swim lanes during open swim to 1 1/2 swim lanes. Will review possibility of opening the pool for open swim at 11:30. Suggestions to look at were: completing swim lessons by 11:30 or putting a rope up and opening 1/2 of the shallow end. Also, Mark was going to review with the staff the possibility of opening the pool for open swim on Sundays at noon instead of 1:00 p.m. B. City Center Meeting. Mark Mailes, Linda Gray, Will Bertron, and Jim Patterson attended and it was a good meeting. Issues raised were a need for a regular meeting and a need for a "Master Planner." C. YMCA Purchase. Per John Graf they are reviewing appraisals. D. JMH. Janet Wilson (Edloe Deli) is possibly buying the JMH Corporation V. Discussion Items. A. Whitt Johnson Park. The gate has been adjusted so it only opens one direction and a spring added so the gate will remain closed. A light has been temporarily adjusted to light the backboards. It will stay on until 10:00 pm. Also, a motion was passed to ask Friends for funds to complete the fencing of a 10 foot gap by the utility boxes that was not originally fenced. The cost is $1540. Ideas are being looked at to keep the crushed granite of the walkway from scratching the courts. Estimates are being reviewed for recycled benches in the Gazebo. B. Edloe Linear Park. Cost of moving the lights is the hold up. The city is looking to have Reliant Energy pay to move the lights. C. Colonial Park House. Has been put into condemnation. D. Judson Park. The one way street trials are still up and seem to be working fine. The trial of parking on one side of the street has been in effect for the last Z weeks and will be given 90 days. When the streets in around the park are redone, the street could be narrowed for one way and add a 4' sidewalk outside of the fence of the park. Head on parking could be added next to the Tennis Courts. The Traffic Task Force suggested 5 cross walks. We suggested to move them to street corners and not in the middle of a block. E. Friends Update. "I Love Parks" t-shirts are on sale. The West U PTA has asked if they can be involved in fund raising for the Elementary school through the Park Lover's Ball. It is under discussion. Also, an idea being discussed for the Ball is having specific park elements that people can buy for a park (ie: bench, tree, etc.) F. White Oak. Master Plan proposal and discussion. VI. Adjournment. Meeting was adjourned at 9:30 p.m.
