Parks and Recreation Advisory Board
Minutes of Meeting 3 May 95

The meeting was called to order by Odette Mace, acting Parks Board Chairperson at
7:44 pm. Minutes of the April 12 meeting were approved.
Treasurer's report: Not presented
Park Reports
Milton Street - The working drawings are to be completed by the landscape
architect David Stanger and sent to contractors for bid on Thursday, May 4th.
The City Council approved the recent changes as presented by Stanger 4/24 and
approved the budget amount estimated to complete the project.
Judson - Carol Burke reminded the board about the uncompleted infrastructure
in the area, particularly storm drainage, that precludes park development.
Weir - The leak near the drinking fountain was addressed and appears to be
repaired, although the area is still muddy and the drain continues to be plugged
up by children with gravel. The status of installing a windscreen on the east
side and the repair on the gate was not known.
Old Business
Tim Hansen called Trees for Houston and found out that they have no funds
or credit in any account set up for receiving the income from fines or fees assessed
from West U builders. Carol Burke will call Kathy Lord again to investigate the
status of credits that were supposedly made in our behalf.
New Business
Odette Mace will inquire of Mark Mailes about what major maintenance items
exist or may come up in the next two years.
Odette suggested that it is time we prepare a two-year capital expenditure plan
to better anticipate requirements for funding park development after Milton Street
Park is complete, especially considering the scale of the work to be done at Colonial
Park. Motion made, seconded, and passed.
