The meeting was called to order at 7:40 pm. Minutes of the
May 4th meeting were amended and approved. (See attached.)
The Treasurer was not present, so no report was available.
MILTON STREET PARK
It was reported Friends had approved $90,000 for Phase II.
WEIR PARK
It was reported City Council did not approve plan and expenditures
for Weir. Concerns surrounded the cost of the tot area, cost
to bury overhead lines, and the need to provide funding for
resurfacing the tennis court. A drawing by Dave Stanger of the
tot area without the special surface was shown. Carol Burke
advised the Board of her conversation with The Friends Board and
their support of the modified plan including the tot lot surface.
Carol has talked to several Council members regarding the plan. A
vote is set for 6/13/94. There was much further discussion by the
Board, resulting the passage of a motion to communicate to City
Council the express support of the Board for the modified plan for
Weir Park as approved by the Parks Board in the May meeting.
Members were encouraged to attend the public hearing on Weir Park
set for June 5, 5pm, Weir Park.
PARKFEST
Parkfest was a success with attendance estimated at 600+. Thanks
to Connie and her committee for a great job.
COLONIAL PARK
A motion was passed to use $853.45 from the Water Fund to buy 13
table umbrellas, 2 lifeguard umbrellas, and 12 kickboards.
There being no further business, a motion for adjournment was
passed and the meeting adjourned at 8:50 p.m.
