The meeting was called to order at 7:35pm. A motion
was made by Tamara Armstrong and 2nd by Jere Ahrens to
approve the minutes of the April 7 meeting. Under citizens
requests Carol Burke requested that the fence at the
Colonial Park Pool be removed and the gates installed. Ross
Frazer suggested that a monthly article in the City
Currents might be a good idea. An appropriate title might
be "Just Park It".
Under Discussion/Action Items ParkFest 93 was
discussed. Jere Ahrens presented the initial financial
report from ParkFest. He estimated that the festival would
make about $3,000 profit. Several suggestions were made for
next years ParkFest:
1. Volunteers - Attempt to get girl or boy scouts
(Felt that too much was "given away" to
volunteers, i.e. free rides, concessions, shirts).
2. Suggested move to east side of Colonial Park and
not use deck area.
3. Need more signs - maybe a map of all booths.
4. Evaluate the kiddie games
5. Reserve trolley from Bellaire
6. Have raffle/drawing
7. Thought pony's & petting zoo were great
8. Shorter volunteer shifts
9. More and different foods
10. Volunteer meeting beforehand
11. No ice cream
12. Move date to May
