Staff Present: Mark Mailes
The meeting was called to order at 7:40pm. A motion
was made by Phil Stevenson to approve the minutes of
February 3, 1993 meeting with one amendment (Carol Burke did
not second motion to approve January 20 minutes, Phil did).
The motion was seconded by Margaret Sanchez.
Under miscellaneous citizens and/or staff reports, Mark
presented plant schematic to landscape the new fence line at
Colonial Park. A bed would be created along Westpoint
Street with Photina, Indian Hawthorn and flowers. Carolina
Jasmine will also be planted around the perimeter, along the
fence post.
Under discussion items, the Park Lovers Ball was
discussed. Suggestions for next year included a possible
different location that will accommodate additional guests,
a different starting time of 7:00pm and improved food and
beverage arrangements. Ross Frazer reported that the
Friends will nominate a Park Lovers Ball Chairman at their
next meeting.
The second item was ParkFest. Ross is coordinating
sponsorship requests. He has prepared letters to be
distributed to various businesses. Due to the short time
frame, it was suggested that the board meet on March 24 to
discuss arrangements and assignments for ParkFest.
The last item was playground equipment. A motion was
made by Phil Stevenson that a request be made to expend
Water Bill donation money to improve the Sand Volleyball
Court at Colonial Park. Mark estimated that improvements
could be made for $9,200. Improvements includes concrete
edging/boarders, beach sand, a drainage system (french
drain) and 2 sets of bleachers.
There being no further business, a motion was made by
Phil and seconded by Margaret to adjourn. The meeting was
adjourned at 9:45pm.
