The meeting was called to order at 7:55pm, Jere Ahrens
read a Treasurers report.
Several Different fund raising events were discussed
Valerie Decker of Herrin Magness Realty was introduced. Ms.
Decker will be coordinating the fun run for Parkfest '93.
Parkfest '93 will be held on April 24, 1993 at Colonial
Park. Mark Mailes will coordinate with the Police and Fire
Department for various support activities and programs.
The next event discussed was the Park Lovers Ball.
This event will be on February 13, 1993 at the Stouffer
Presidente Hotel. Cora Bess Parks is coordinating fund
raising support from various businesses and groups for
silent auction items.
Next, the Tenneco Marathon and the intent to sell
coffee and donuts at City Hall was finalized. Plans were
also discussed to purchase pavers to acknowledge donations
from citizens and organizations to improve parks amenities.
The board gave their consensus to approve a recommendation
to the City Council that this was an appropriate expenditure
of Friends funds.
Finally, Jere Aherns briefly reported that it would be
necessary to suspend the expenditure of funds in the Parks
Board account. All fund raising activities will now be
administered through the Friends and the Parks Board would
concentrate advisory responsibilities.
The meeting was adjourned at 10:15pm.
