HomeMy WebLinkAboutFBMINUTES040401Friends of West University Place Parks Board, Inc. Board of Directors' Meeting April 4, 2001 Municipal Building Council Chambers 3800 University Boulevard 1. The meeting was called to order at 6:28 PM. Those in attendance were: Donna LaMond, Win Graham, Ann Martin, Marisue Tallichet, Joni Fichter, Ross Frazer, Linda Gray, Karin Dubose, Mark Mailes, Mike Koinis, Stephanie Langenstein, Alisa Starbird and Gayle Jackson. 2. A motion to approve the minutes of the March 7, 2001 meeting was made by Joni Fichter and seconded by Ann Martin. The motion carried. Treasurer's Report: Ross Frazer passed out a sheet, which showed Total Cash on Hand to be $621,230.99. Said did not reflect $50,000 deposited the other day. Of the monies, $250,000 has already been spent for Whitt Johnson Park and $43,000 in fees for the Master Plan; leaves us with approximately $370,000 to the spent; Mark Mailes to send out preliminary plans for Colonial Park to board members 4. Reports: Homeplace: Karin Dubose passed out minutes from the March planning meeting for this event; Reliant Energy will sponsor the concert scheduled for October 27; community organizations are being encouraged to participate in the festivities during the month; would like them to come forward and host events; need underwriters for port-a-potties, banners, and hand outs such as cups and flashlights; every member of the board needs to call or e-mail Karin to let her know which specific job they would like to perform; was mentioned that some sort of parade might be fun; will follow up on ideas at the May Friends meeting Pavers: Mike waiting to submit order; Colonial Park pavers will be ripped up and relocated when redevelopment begins; there are no more brochures; need to redesign and make changes in Paver Program; need different levels of giving and ideas for giving; board members encouraged to e-mail Linda with different "giving" ideas Park Lovers Ball: Underwriters' Party to be hosted at the home to Maria Elena and Eric Herbst on April 19; motion was made by Gayle Jackson and seconded by Ross Frazer that the Friends to pay up to $1000 for the party; motion carried; calendars that were supposed to be passed out at the PLB will be passed out at the Underwriters' Party Old Business YMCA Property: agreement has been reached and contract signed;City should take possession in approximately 2 years Ann Martin will present plans for a renewable Membership Program at the May meeting 6. New Business Was suggested that maybe we have a home tour, garden tour, bike rally or movie night; more discussion next month. 7.
