Board of Directors Meeting
November 1, 2000
City Hall Conference Room
3800 University Boulevard
1. The meeting was called to order by Linda Gray at 6:30. Those is attendance
were: Amy Reid, Ann Martin, Mark Mailes, Win Graham, Corey Brown, Donna
LaMond, Sherry Gift, Karin Dubose, Beverly Loftis, Stephanie Langenstein,
Linda Gray, Joni Fichter, Gayle Jackson, Burt Ballanfant and Will Bertron.
2. Beverly Loftis made a motion to accept the minutes from the October 4, 2000
meeting and Joni Fichter seconded. The minutes were approved.
3. Treasurer's Report: No report
4. Reports
a. Foundations: No report
b. New Events: Homeplace Celebration; see attached sheet
c. Pavers: No report
d. Randall's Card: $852.00 received last quarter; continue with publicity
e. Water Bill Check off: No report
f. Public Relations: Win working on articles
g. Park Lovers Ball: Underwriting needs to be finished by December meeting;
next planning meeting at Karin Dubose' home on November 10; Ann Martin to
help with calendar; Laurie Sellers will be asked to help with video; Beverly and
Ann to help
h. Golf Shirt Sales: No report
5. Old Business
Plans for the Bill Hall Memorial will be presented to City Council for their
approval on November 13; Bardwell Builders contributing %2 cost
New rosters passed out
PLB 2000 party at Joni Fichter's quite a success
Master Plan - Will reported that final corrections would be made tonight at the
Parks Board meeting and should be printed in about a week so that Friends and
Council could have a copy; Jim Patterson to work with Parks Board to get in
mailable form for City
YMCA acquisition - negotiators for West U will be Rick Spencer and Marshall
Clinkscales
Board positions to fill: Linda passed out a list of those citizens who received
packets; 3 packets have been returned; applications of prospective new members
will be circulated to the Executive Board; recommendations to entire board in
December and vote will then be taken for new members
Photos for the 2001 PLB video are DUE at the December meeting. Remember to
go to one or several of the parks and shoot a roll of film. Turn in developed
pictures at the December meeting
6. New Business:
West University School Carnival: Thanks to all who worked selling Friends
items; made $210.00; need better signage if we are going to sell again at other
venues
Membership to Friends program: Ann Martin tossed out idea of getting people to
support the Friends with memberships; will be discussed at a later date
Giving Tree/Donor Walk program; Linda Gray brought up these ideas so can have
more ways to raise money; will discuss at later date
Time of the meeting will change to 6:15 PM instead of 6:30 PM
7. Adjournment: The meeting was adjourned at 7:35 PM.
