Call to Order - The meeting was called to order at 7:05 PM. Those in attendance were: Mike Koinis, Stephanie Langenstein, Corey Brown, Marisue Tallichet, Alisa Starbird, Karin Dubose, Joni Fichter, Rochelle Maffet, Donna LaMond, Sherry Gift, Beverly Loftis, Theresa Attwell, Win Graham, Mark Mailes, Ross Frazer, Linda Gray, Will Bertron, Amy Reid, and Burt Ballanfant. Chairman Linda Gray welcomed our six new members. Will Bertron, Parks Board Chairman, gave a talk for the new members; explained the "Friends" raise money for the parks and the Parks Board spends that money; told about the new Master Plan recently developed for the City; new plan to be out in 3-4 weeks Burt Ballanfant, City Council Liaison, said a few words as did mayor Linda Lewis; told us there are two appraisals on the YMCA property and are about $3 million apart Chairman Linda Gray went over the Responsibilities and Duties of Board of Directors; see attached Also passed out Job Descriptions for each board position; election of officers to be held at October meeting 2. Approval of the Minutes - The minutes of the July 5, 2000 meeting were approved Treasurer's Report - No report Reports: a. Foundations: no report b. New Events: Home Place Celebration - Karin Dubose has agreed to chair this event which will be Fall 2001 c. Pavers: no report d. Randall's Card: received $838.15 for the quarter ended 6/30/00 e. Water Bill Check off: No report f Public Relations: want to have a column in every month's City Currents to contain news of the parks; decided it would be good to have a "catchy" title for this section g. Park Lovers' Ball February 10, 2001 is date for 10'' annual ball; Richard Soler to be the decorator; auction donation forms ready; first committee meeting scheduled for 9/15/00 at Sherry Gift's home; deciding on Honorary Chairman; need to vote on adding and raising some of the underwriting levels ($15,000, $10,000, $2001) and the base ticket price ($125); a tie to the Home Place Celebration will be included in the underwriting packages; proposed budget for the ball is $55,000; thinking of adding a Champagne Toast card in the invitation; will have a "Park Corner" at the ball which will have specific items listed to be donated h. Golf shirts New tee-shirts and ornaments are ready and can be bought. Make great party favors and gifts. Old Business: Bill Hall Memorial - see attached sheet; in addition, may need to raise a bit more money for the playhouse to be built in the next 4-6 months in Huffngton Park Whitt Johnson Park Pavilion - Amy Reid agreed to plan a reception for the Rosenbloom family this fall New Business 2001 PLB Beneficiary: Motion was made that Colonial Park be the be the beneficiary of all proceeds; Beverly Loftis seconded; the motion passed Park Corner at the 2001 PLB: Motion made that West University Elementary School parks be the beneficiary; Mike Koinis seconded; the motion passed Sidewalk Decorating Day - need chairman Board Position Sign Up - sheet passed around; will have results of sign up at next meeting Adjournment - The meeting was adjourned after 9:00 PM
