Board of Directors' Meeting
October 4, 2000
City Hall Conference Room
3800 University Boulevard
Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 6:30 PM. Those in attendance
were: Linda Gray, Joni Fichter, Stephanie Langenstein, Gayle Jackson, Beverly
Loftis, Mike Koinis, Ann Martin, Win Graham, Corey Brown, Ross Frazer,
Rochelle Maffet, Amy Reid, Alisa Starbird, Karin Dubose, Marisue Tallichet, and
Will Bertron.
2. Approval of September 6, 2000 Minutes: The minutes were approved
3. Treasurer's Report: The unaudited balance as of 8/31/00 was reported to be
$477,379.01
4. Reports:
a. Foundations: need chairman; will be coordinating proposals
b. New Events: Karin Dubose spoke about Homeplace Celebration and
Sidewalk Decorating Party; see attached sheet; committee to reconvene
c. Pavers: Brochures to be passed out at West U Elementary Carnival; at
present, have four pavers to be ordered
d. Randall's Card: No report; Alisa Starbird to handle
e. Water Bill Check Off: No report; Alisa Starbird to handle
f. Public Relations: Win Campbell heading up
g. Park Lover's Ball: Co-chairs both unable to attend meeting; underwriting
letters ready sent out; copies of underwriting letters and fact sheets on
Park Lovers Ball passed out; Ann Martin passed around sheets of
historical information on underwriters from the past seven years; Next
committee meeting at Cece McCann's on Friday, October 13, at 10:00
AM, 3004 Georgetown
h. Golf Shirts: Will be for sale at West University Elementary Carnival
5. Old Business:
Bill Hall Memorial: Amy Reid is still working on this with Bill's sister
Phyllis' Corner Dedication: Amy Reid trying to get hold of Henry Rosenbloom
to plan a reception at the park
Laissez Les Bons Temps Router Party: Sold out; all set, Ann Martin to bring ice
to Joni's before start of party
Parks Master Plan: Will Bertron reported that the report should be out in a week
or so
Parks Acquisition Committee: Ross Frazer reported that the Y property
has been placed on the open market; two appraisals which have been done
are about $3 million apart; overall thought is that Y will give City right of
last refusal; legal problems for developers; Clinkscales and Yehl doing
negotiating for City; new master plans makes a strong case for acquisition
by the City
6. New Business
Vacancies on Board: Theresa Attwell resigned.; Linda Gray to send packets to
persons interested in postions to be filled; sending to Jane Swanson, Barbie
Horowitz, Cheryl Butler, Maria Elena Herbst and Theresa Lowe; will have
packets at next months' meeting
West University Elementary Carnival: Joni passed out sign up sheet for manning
our booth; will be selling t- shirts, golf shirts; ornaments; pavers and passing out
information on PLB
Membership to Friends Program: Ann Martin - no report
Giving Tree/Donor Wall Program: Linda Gray - no report
Video for PLB: all board members are to shoot a roll of film at the parks and
bring to next month's meeting; will be used for video at PLB
Election of Officers: Slated as follows:

Chair-Elect Ann Martin
Vice-Chair Corey Brown
Secretary Gayle Jackson
Treasurer Ross Frazer
Joni Fichter made a motion that the slate be accepted as presented; Alisa
Starbird seconded; motion carried
7. Adjournment: Meeting adjourned at 7:40 PM
