Board of Directors' Meeting
June 7, 2000
City Conference Room
Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 6:37pm. Those in attendance were:

2. Approval of the Minutes
The minutes from the May 3, 2000 meeting were read. Joni made the motion and Pat seconded
that the minutes be approved. Motion carried.
Treasurer's Report
No report
4. Reports
a. Golf Shirts - Ross reported that no more shirts have been sold. Discussion followed that the
logo looked too much like city employee shirts, but Ross thought people liked that. Need to
be more aggressive about selling shirts-have a table with order forms at every city function.
b. Park Lovers Ball-WUPTA submitted letter requesting partnership with PLB. Letter
attached. Linda reminded board that the Friends has given to WUE in the past, it is in West
U., it serves all residents and Tri-sports, but it does have other funding. Discussion followed
including the possibility of making WUE the recipient of the "Parks Corner" at the PLB
whereby people can donate money towards specific elements of the playground and designate
it for WUE. Linda will meet with Brenda Adkins, Donna Lamond and Sherry Gift to discuss
possibilities before the next meeting.
c. New Events - Friends needs to actively pursue another event, possibly a concert in the park.
Also, planned giving needs to be developed. A straw vote was taken to monitor interest on
behalf of the board. Board voted to pursue other events and activities.
Old Business
a. Bill Hall Memorial-Kathy Hall still working on house
b. Party at Joni Fichters-Linda reminded board needs to pay $100.
c. All Family Progressive Bike Tour-Pat reported that 30 people attended, Frankie Mandola
donated food, police did bike safety checks, and swimming followed. The idea was discussed
to market this citywide as a separate event and sell tickets outside PLB.
d. Parks Master Plan-Plan will be presented Wednesday, June 14, 2000 at 6:00pm.
e. Parks Land Acquisition-City has started negotiations with YMCA.

f. Whit Johnson Park-Mark is researching benches to be placed in Phyllis' Corner. Joni
suggested recycled milk bottle benches.
6. New Business
a. T-shirts-Theresa suggested we also sell t-shirts. Joni presented information on t-shirts she
had done for another organization. Joni volunteered to order shirts with Theresa's artwork
design. Ross moved that Theresa will design the t-shirt logo, Joni and Linda approve, Joni
order 500 t-shirts with maximum cost of $2500; sales price will be $15. Mark will take care
of sales at the pool. Pat seconded. The motion carried.
b. Board positions-Linda stated that we will have several positions to fill. All names should be
submitted promptly.
c. Next meeting-We will meet on July 5, 2000 at 6:30pm. No meeting in August. Election of
officers will be in September.
d. Citywide planning meeting-Saturday, June 10, 2000, 9:00am-12: OOpm regarding City
Center. All groups of the city will be represented.
