Board of Directors' Meeting
May 3, 2000
Council Chambers
Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 6:35 P.M. Those in attendance were Linda
Gray, Gayle Jackson, Beverly Loftis, Karin K. Dubose, Sherry Gift and Dan
Cooper.
2. Approval of the Minutes
The minutes from the April 12, 2000 minutes were read and approved
3. Treasurer's Report
Dan Cooper reported that the bank balance is $468,542; has figure of $87,298
from this year's Park Lovers' Ball, plus $50,000 from the County for a total of
approximately $137,298 from the 2000 PLB
4. Reports
a. Foundations: No report
b. New Events: No report
c. Pavers: No report
d. Randall's Card: No report; need chairman
e. Water Bill Check Off: No report; need chairman
f. Public relations: No report; need new chairman
g. Park Lovers' Ball:
Sherry reported that the 2001 Ball will be held at the Westin Oaks on
Saturday, February 10, 2001, and the thAme will be: 2001 A Park Odessey
h. Golf Shirt Sales: have sold 19 shirts to cute; need to be more visible in the
future at City events; should have had these for sale during the Home Place
Celebration; need better marketing to,get these sold
5. Old Business'
Whitt Johnson Park dedication: Went very~vie11 on April 16; well attended;
attendees enjoyed James Coney Island, entertainment and larges trees that were
given away; discussed that we should have had golf shirts and pavers for sale at
this event
All Family Progressive Bike Tour: Several people who had signed up to ride on
the tour had to drop out so there are spaces available for anyone who wants to go;
if you want to go on the tour or if you know anyone who might want to go should
call Pat and let her know.
PLB Thank You Party at the Attwells was a fun time; thank you to the Attwells
and Coopers
Parks Master Plan - second meeting being held tonight; recommendations for
better park equipment, bathrooms in each park, and more city green space were
high on the lists of citizens who responded to the survey
5. New Business

Additional discussion on:
Parks Land Acquisition - JMH has approached the city about buying the property
where the store sits
Whitt Johnson Park Pavilion - probably will buy teak benches in addition to the
table
New venues for giving - discussion included selling squares to be decorated by
individuals, families, etc. in different parks; be thinking of new ways to raise
money!
