Call To Order The meeting was called to order at 6:35 P.M. Those in attendance were: Gayle Jackson Linda Gray, Karin Dubose, Ann Martin, Mark Mailes, Donna LaMond, Sherry Gift, Beverly Loftis, Grant McCracken, Pat Lawrence, Joni Fichter, Theresa Attwell, Dan Cooper, Will Bertron and Burt Ballanfant 2. Approval of the January 5, 2000 Minutes 3. Treasurer's Report - No Report 4. Reports a. Foundations: No report b. New Events: No report c. Pavers: No report d. Randall's Card: No report e. Water Bill Check-Off: No report f. Public Relations: No report g. Park Lovers Ball Auction revenues were $47,000 gross, $38,000 net; up due to multi-unit items such as socials; more bid activity in mid-range items; more auction buyers Five pavers sold at ball; Mike Koinis looking for Steven & Leah Ragiel; Karin Dubose to contact them Joni reported on the party at her home on October 21; have 10 spots open at $50 per spot; suggested recruiting neighbors to come; food and flowers have been donated; tables and chairs will be rented; need bartender, invitations, music. Board responsible for all costs of items not donated Linda has a contact sheet of Phyllis Hands' pictures taken at the ball; can order prints of pictures from this; will give sheets to Donna LaMond after Monday Need to decide on date of next year's ball; Westin is holding some dates for us; discussed whether staying at Westin Oaks or going to Westin Galleria; will need to meet with hotel personnel to determine if extra costs are incurred by using the larger ballroom Donna LaMond and Sherry Gift 2001 PLB chairs wilkl decide and book hotel Golf Shirt Sales Another article will be appearing in City Currents, shortly 5. Old Business Will Bertron reported on the Bill Hall Memorial; design engineers have signed off; Bill's sister, Kathy, is putting personal touches on - something nautical; will be cast at Glassell, with her paying, and then will be placed in Huffington Park; Carol Burke needs to transfer the money in the account to us and Dan Cooper to follow up with Carol Huffington Sign: Christy Quinn to meet with Michelle Jackson to design temporary sign to be installed at Huffington Park until the long-range planning signage for all the parks in the city is decided upon; permanent sign will then be erected Edloe Linear Park: costs varying; may need additional sources of funds Liberty Park: ideas being tossed around for a theme for this park; maybe military; maybe have special pavers for veterans Whitt Johnson Park: should be ready by April 1; $7,000 budgeted for the retaining wall to be built around the tree in the berm was not used to build the retaining wall; tree had to be taken down; Mark Mailes reported that prices for moving the tree were around $17,000 - $20,000; even if had been able to move, not guarantee that tree would live; funds used to buy a 100-gal. tree from the Tree Trust to replace existing tree; fast growing, taproot-type tree needed here; Motion by Pat Van Sweringen to look into getting a tree for up to the $7,000 we had budgeted for the retaining wall to replace the 100-gal tree; seconded by Beverly Loftis; motion carried; will now need approval from City Council 6. New Business Home Place Celebration April1 Concert April 8-9 Tennis Tournament Renelle Cadena from Parks Board signing up volunteers April 15 Newcomers BBQ and kids concert 7.
