Board of Directors' Meeting
September 1, 1999
City Hall Council Chambers
MINUTES
Call to Order:
The meeting was called to order at 6:30 P.M. Those in attendance were Theresa Attwell, Will Bertron,
Corey Brown, Martha Carrell, Dan Cooper, Karin Dubose, Joni Fichter, Ross Frazer, Linda Gray,
Beverly Loftis, Mark Mailes, Ann Martin, Suzanne Penley, Margaret Wallace, and Council Liaison -
Burt Ballanfant.
Welcome extended to new board members present: Corey Brown, Martha Carroll, Karen Dubose, and
Suzanne Penley
2. Approval of May 5, 1999 and July 7, 1999 Minutes
A motion was made by Loftis and seconded by Attwell to approve the May 5, 1999 minutes. Next, a
motion was made by Wallace and seconded by Attwell to approve the July 7, 1999 minutes.
3. Treasurer's Report: No report
4. Reports:
A. Foundations: No report
B. New Projects: No report
C. Pavers:
1) New pavers have been ordered and should be in soon. Fitchter suggested individual groups
buy pavers (Bunko Clubs, Walking Moms, Etc.)
2) Koinis wants Friends "hotline" established; Penley may help with voice mail line donated by
Smoke Signal Communications.
D. Randall's Card: Over $600.00 last month.
E. Water Bill Check-off. Donations have dropped significantly.
F. Public Relations: no report
G. Park Lover's Ball:
1) Gray gave an overview of what, where, how, and when to new members of the Park Lovers
Ball
2) PLB will be held on 2/19/00 at Westin Oaks; Ayse and Grant McCraken will chair.
3) "Save the Date" cards will go out soon
4) Reservation inquiries should be directed to Jackson
5) Underwriter Letters going out soon
6) A motion was made by Martin and seconded by Wallace to raise the price of individual
tickets to $100.00 each. Tables are priced at $1500, $3000, $5000, and $7500
7) Checkout is taken care of as far as the software- cost is $300 per year +$250 deposit; contract
is being reviewed by Grant McCracken
8) Menu- cost is approximately $55.00 more info. next month
9) Ayse's luncheon is on 9/14/99 at 12:00p.m.
10) Auction- 9 Sections
H. Golf Shirts: Ready to take orders at $50.00 ea. ($28.75 tax deductible)
Old Business:
Advisory Board Shaping Up
Bill Hall Memorial - coming along, still working on it
Business Donation Program
Coastal Bank - no response as of yet
Jene Aherens Honorarium - will contact
Henry Rosenbloom - gave $10,000 can raise $50,000 more; wants quiet spot in every park in memory
of his wife. Beverly, Corey, and Joanie will do event the 1 g` week of January
New logo design - nothing yet
6. New Business:
All of the same officers have been re-elected
Agreed to donate paver to West U Elementary
