Board of Dirors` Meeting
May S. 1999
City Hall Council Chambers
1. Call to Order
Linda Gray called the meeting to order at 6:40 P.M. Those in attendance
were Janet Lionberger, Donna LaMond (dslamond @aol.com), Kim Wilson,
Margaret Wallace, Pat Lawrence (patlawlrng@att.nel), Dan Cooper, Mark
Mailes, Linda Gray, Ann Martin and Sherry Gift (gift @pdq.net).
Linda gave an uppate on the condition of Jack Lof is, husband of board
member Beverly t o ti s.
2. Approval of April 7, 1999 Minutes
The rninutes were approved.
3. Treasurer's Report
Dan Cooper's written report is attached.
4. Reports:
a Foundations: No report
b. New Projects:
Board Notebooks - Putting together a notebook to give to board members.
Each member on the board should either hold an office or be on a
committee; Draft of Responsibilities and Duties of Board of Directors
attached
c. Pavers: Was reported that we have approximately 15 pavers to be done,
many of which have been paid for quite a long time. Brochure should be
finished by next month; annual plan including when and where we will self
pavers and distribute brochures will be submitted; need a press release
with a photo (perhaps of the Arcidiacano family) when Johnny's paver is
installed; Ann Martin suggested that when we bury the time capsule
maybe we could install the pavers and hand out extra t-shirts that are left
over from the ball; possibility of paver check off discussed
d. Randall's Card: need chairman; reeved $469.99 last quarter; publicity
paid off
e. Water Bill Check Off: need chairman for this committee
f. Publicity: Donna submitted article for Currents requesting interested
people to apply for open positions; should be in May Currents; need
publicity plan at next meeting to include monthly press release and Park
Corner infbm iation in Currents; Donna LaMond to talk to Shennan YeW
g. Park Lovers' Ball.• to be held at the Westin Oaks Hotel February 19,
2000,
Ayse and Grant McCracken to co-chair; Dan Cooper needs to be replaced
as check-out chairman; need volunteer to do Y2K PLB and Linda feels it
should be a board member
20101 Park Lovers' Ball: Ann Martin suggested that it should be held at the
YMCA;
5. Old Business
a. Advisory Board Names: Linda suggests Jeanne Marosis, Kim Cooper,
Ginni Mithoff, Lary Massey, Roger Martin, Lisa Ward, Janet Lionberger,
and Linda Lewis. Other names mentioned were Russ Schulze, Tom
Rushing, and Bob Barnes. Need other names by next meeting
b. Bill Hall Memorial: Ross Frazer followed up on the $1600 available to us
for this memorial. Parks Board discussed it last month. Will Contact bill
Hall's sister once plans are developed; work in progress, will be in
Huffington Park
c. Business Donation Program: In progress
d. Costal Banc: Will receive check end of summer
e. Strategic Planning Task Force: Members Bill Findley, Pat Lawrence,
Ross Frazer Ann Martin and Linda Gray are meeting with the Parks Board
tonight
6. New Business
Janet Lionber has resigned from the board; have three vacancies to fill; Ross
Frazer, Dan Cooper, Gayle Jackson and Pat Lawrence have agreed to re-up;
We will be taking applications but need recommendations for nominations -
Joni Fichter, Andy Talkington, and Kim Sterling
Jere Ahrens Honoraium: Dan Cooper asked if we should present Jere, a past
board member, Treasurer and income tax preparer, an honoraium for his
service. Ross Frazer made a motion to do so and Janet Lionberger
seconded
City of West University Polo Shirt: Ross said cost about $21; will get City
approval
Board Members: If not presently chairing a committee, call Linda. Each
member needs to be a committee chair; first come, first served.
7. Adjournment: The meeting was adjourned at 7:34 P.M.
