Board of Directors Meeting
May 6, 1998
Public Works Department Lunchroom
1. Call To Order
Linda Gray called the meeting to order at 6:40 P.M. Those in attendance were:
Linda Gray, Janet Lionberger, Beverly Loftis, Mark Mailes, Ann Martin, Pat
Lawrence, Gayle Jackson and Debbie Rae
2. Treasurer's Report
No report
3. Approval of the Minutes
Minutes of April meeting were approved after revision. Linda stated that the
first paragraph under Committee Reports should be moved to New/Other
Business and should read: It was reported that an architect has been hired and a
Town Meeting will be held regarding Whitt Johnson Park..
4. Committee Reports
a. Foundations
Aft Pat Lawrence reported that a lettter about Colonial Park expansion
has been drafted to The Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission. Linda Gray
looking at it. Kay Holloway is looking up the amount Commission gave in
1976.
Mark Mailes reported that the woman who has the property that we are
interested in on Case St. is back living in the house. Letters have been sent
to her, but she has not replied. Mark thinks that the YMCA property may
have more grant potential since it is more in line with what TP&WC wants.
b. Park Lovers' Ball
Ann Martin passed out a summary of the meeting of the past chairs.
It was noted that 1999 will be the 75th anniversary of our city, and our PLB
decorations theme could be tied into this anniversary.

5. New and Other Business
Linda reported on her meeting with Southside's Lori Johnson about bringing in
auction items for the PLB. Lori reported that they are looking at having park
parties at someone's house to raise revenue for Southside Park. It was mentioned
that maybe West University and Southside should look at a new joint project such
as a concert or some other event.
Linda reported on her meeting with Henry Rosenbloom regarding establishing a
rose garden in memory of his deceased wife in one or more of our parks. There
are still no final plans for what he may contribute. Tim Hansen, Linda and Mark
Mailes are to meet with him again.
Chase Bank of Texas still trying to decide exactly what they will do at their
grand opening. They are thinking they might donate $50.00 per new account
opened. They will be sending out information on our letterhead; Linda Gray
following up with their public relations people.
A discussion was held about "Friends" Board Chairman Linda Gray and Parks
Board Chairman Marcella Chennisi attending each other's meetings so each could
be apprised of long-range planning goals. A task force needs to be put together; A
meeting to brainstorm and prioritize will be held at the home of Beverly Loftis on
May 20.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:35 p.m.
