CALL TO ORDER Beverly Loftis called the meeting to order at 6:35 P.M. those in attendance were: Beverly Loftis, Gayle Jackson, Janet Lionberger, Ross Frazer, Ann Martin, Jeanne Marosis, Mark Mailes, Dan Cooper, Pat Lawrence and Bill Findley. 2. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES A motion to approve the minutes from the February meeting was made by Pat Van Sweringen and seconded by Ross Frazer. 3. TREASURER'S REPORT Dan Cooper reported that we have $254,000 in the bank, with $40,000 to be collected. 4. COMMITTEE REPORTS a. Foundations: No report It was brought up that we may approach the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department to help with the purchase of land for Colonial Park. Their deadlines for approach are January and July. b. Park Lovers' Ball Ann Martin announced that the Doubletree Hotel has been booked for next year's ball to be held on Saturday, February 13, 1999, if approved by the board. The ballroom can hold more people and the parking situation is much better here. A motion was made and seconded that this be the site of the 1999 ball. Theresa Attwell, Co-Chair of the 1998 PLB, volunteered to do a follow-up survey of the recent ball, but the board rejected the offer. Ann is studying the issue of whether or not ticket prices will be raised for next year's ball, and she will make recommendations to the board at a future meeting. c. Grassroots We received $50.00 from use of the Randall's card Friends of West University Place Parks Fund, Inc. Board of Directors Meeting March 4, 1997 Council Chambers 5. NEW/OTHER BUSINESS Ross Frazer reported that he and Beverly Loftis met with Lori Johnson, chair of Southside Place Park Association, to discuss their proposal of "teaming" with our board to raise money for their park through our annual Park Lovers' Ball. They proposed to bring 3 auction items to us and give us 15% of the money raised. Ross will let Lori know that a decision was not reached as to whether or not this was acceptable. More discussion is warranted. The April meeting will begin at 6:00 P.M. at the home of Janet Lionberger, 6422 Brompton, and the thank-you party will follow at 7:00. 6. ADJOURNMENT Janet Lionberger made a motion to adjourn the meeting and Bill Findley seconded. Respectfully submitted, Gayle Jackson
