4. COMMITTEE REPORTS
a. Foundations: No report
It was brought up that we may approach the Texas Parks & Wildlife
Department to help with the purchase of land for Colonial Park. Their
deadlines for approach are January and July.
b. Park Lovers' Ball
Ann Martin announced that the Doubletree Hotel has been booked for next
year's ball to be held on Saturday, February 13, 1999, if approved by the board.
The ballroom can hold more people and the parking situation is much better
here. A motion was made and seconded that this be the site of the 1999 ball.
Theresa Attwell, Co-Chair of the 1998 PLB, volunteered to do a follow-up
survey of the recent ball, but the board rejected the offer.
Ann is studying the issue of whether or not ticket prices will be raised for next
year's ball, and she will make recommendations to the board at a future
meeting.
c. Grassroots
We received $50.00 from use of the Randall's card

5. NEW/OTHER BUSINESS
Ross Frazer reported that he and Beverly Loftis met with Lori Johnson, chair of
Southside Place Park Association, to discuss their proposal of "teaming" with our
board to raise money for their park through our annual Park Lovers' Ball. They
proposed to bring 3 auction items to us and give us 15% of the money raised. Ross
will let Lori know that a decision was not reached as to whether or not this was
acceptable. More discussion is warranted.
The April meeting will begin at 6:00 P.M. at the home of Janet Lionberger,
6422 Brompton, and the thank-you party will follow at 7:00.
6. ADJOURNMENT
Janet Lionberger made a motion to adjourn the meeting and Bill Findley seconded.
Respectfully submitted,
Gayle Jackson
