Board of Directors' Meeting
October 1, 1997 * 6:00 P.M.
4146 Marquette - Home of Linda Gray
1. Call to Order
The meeting was called to order by Linda Gray at 6:07 P.M.
Members present were: Mark Mailes, Linda Gray, Beverly Loftis, Kim Wilson,
Gayle Jackson, Pat Lawrence, Lisa Ward, Bill Findley, Debbie Rae, Janet
Lionberger, Jeanne Marosis, Dan Cooper and Ross Frazer
2. Approval of Minutes of 9/3/97
The motion to approve the minutes was made by Janet Lionberger and
seconded by Beverly Loftis.
3. Treasurer's Report
Dan reported that we have $259,000 plus $50,000 from the Huffingtons for a
total of $309,000. He also stated that we would be receiving another $50,000
at the October 7, 1997 dedication of Huffington Park.
4. Committee Reports
Foundations: No report
Park Lovers' Ball: Mike Koinis is the new underwriting chair and was in
attendance at the meeting. The wine for the evening has all been
underwritten by Julia. Schepps and all publicity will go to the winery.
The board approved support for a Lexus at the PLB as long as there
is no obligation to buy it and there is no raffle. It was reported that The
Village News would again be a Grand Sponsor.
Grass Roots: No report
5. New/Other Business
Linda Gray made a motion that we use money contributed for the party and park
bench for Ross Frazer to offset expenses for both, and that Mark Mailes use his
discretion in choosing a teak park bench. Janet Lionberger seconded the motion
which carried unanimously.
Linda stated that Laurie Johnson, new chair of the Southside Firetruck Park
Board, had called and asked to be on our November agenda. Linda replied
that she could have 10 minutes. Since we are a fundraising board, Linda asked
Laurie to lean toward the fundraising side of her issues.
Jeanne and Linda Gray are working on a brochure; photography is ready; Jere
Ahrens and Jeanne to work on this.
Mark Mailes reported that the Huffington Park dedication would be on
Tuesday, October 7,1997, at 11:00 P.M. The St. John's Singers will sing and
there will also be a string trio playing before and after the dedication. Mayor
Fogler will speak as will the Huffingtons.
Mayor Fogler proclaimed Wesnesday, October 1, 1997, as Ross Frazer Day in
The City of West University Place.
6. Adjournment: Linda made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 6:59 P.M., and Pat
Lawrence seconded the motion which passed unanimously. It was then PARTY
