BOARD OF DIRECTORS' MEETING
JANUARY 3 , 1996 * 6:30 PM * CITY HALL
MINUTES
Meeting was called to order by Ross Frazer at 6:30 p.m.
Members present were Ross Frazer, Carolyn Rappazzo, John Putnam, Mark Mailes,
Beverly Loftis, Harry Bristol, Lisa Ward, Cindy Sparkman, Mark Spradling and Jere
Ahrens.
1. Approval of Minutes of 12/06/95
A motion was made and seconded to approve the minutes.
2. Treasurer's Report - Jere Ahrens
$83,088.00 is in the treasurery. Laura Tyler is being transferred and we need
a treasurer to replace Jere Ahrens.
3. Committee Reports:
a. Foundations - Ross Frazer
Houston Endowment denied request for donation. John Putnam is going to
recontact Houston Endowment. Ross has received new list of Texas
Foundations book for 1995 and 1996.
Ross will reassign contacting foundations after Park Lovers' Ball.
Gay and Paula Amaman made a $1,000.00 donation to Friends of W. U. Parks.
b. ParkFest - Deferred until after Park Lovers' Ball.
c. Park Lover's Ball - Beverly Loftis gave a report on donations.
Beverly requested help with the ball. She sent around a sign up sheet for
help on Saturday morning February 10. We will be able to get in the
ballroom after 10:00 a.m.
4. New/other business - Wine was brought to the meeting to fill a basket to be
auctioned at the silent auction.
Pavers and granite markers for trees at Milton St. Park (J.M.H. Park):
There are enough donations for pavers to have them engraved after the
Park Lovers Ball. Give a paver to the highest bidder at the ball.
Tim Hansen who appeared before the board in 1995 with a proposal to
buy engraved Texas granite markers for the trees at the park was present.
Approximately 21 markers will be purchased. There will be a cost of
$150.00 to the Friends of W.U. Parks. Mark Spradling made a motion
the memorial stone markers be sold for $1,000.00 and Beverly seconded.
The markers weigh approximately 200 pounds. There will be one marker
at the ball.
Ross made a motion that the meeting adjourn.
