Chair's welcome:
• 1 hope you all had a great and blessed holiday!
• Thanks to all who came to the Friends Park dedication. It was lovely. Thanks to Tim, Susan, Donna, and the
PARD for their hard work. Prince's Hamburgers did a great job on the food, too. Good press.
• Guild meeting will be this Friday at 9:30 at Lynette Cone's! Hope to see you there.
• Thanks to all who have been getting tables together, encouraging underwriters and donors, and securing
auction items for PLB. It is going to be amazing!
• A Bond Election committee will be appointed. If you have an interest in serving or know someone who might
be of help, contact Tim.
• Condolences to Tim on the loss of his mom and to Donna on the loss of her aunt, both in December.
(Donna, what about a paver for Tim's mom?)
• Council will go over the survey results and see a presentation on 1/14 if you are interested in attending.
Approval of the Minutes and Siqn-In Sheet - Judy Bouillion
A motion was made by Vicki Grams seconded by Sue Jensen to approve the December 5, 2007 Minutes as sent,
with the addition of Sue Jensen as attending. The motion carried.
Executive Director's Report - Donna LaMond
• Assisted with completing the NRPA Southwest Regional Awards Individual or Organization Citation Application on
behalf of Friends. Susan White and Tim O'Connor recognized this opportunity for Friends. We are lucky to have them
looking out for us. If they keep this up, we may have to purchase an awards display case!
• Attended City Council meeting on Monday, December 10, where Daryl and Aaron Hoover and Jennifer Gatto were
awarded Star Citizen Awards for their efforts in making the Fathers & Flashlights event a tremendous success, netting
$26,000.
Worked with Leah Ragiel to prepare for last Guild meeting held on Dec. 14. Updated the hand out card with new 2008
Guild calendar of meetings. Provided a few door prizes. Next Guild meeting is Friday, January 11 at Lynette Cone's
home, 3614 Nottingham, beginning at 9:30 a.m.
PLB08 - Finalizing details with Dorothy Kaldis and Diane Cain on all aspects of the ball. Please remember that as
Friends board members you are responsible for bringing in underwriters and putting together tables as well as helping
bring in auction items for the ball. The information is available on the Friends website, www.westuparks.org, so you can
easily download and print out the underwriter and auction letters and forms. As underwriting money comes in, tax
receipts/thank you notes are being sent out immediately. This is completely up to date at this time. Invitations have
been mailed out.
• Attended the Dec. 11 dedication ceremony for the new Friends Park. This event also honored some of our higher-level
underwriters over the years. It was well attended. Photos were taken and press releases sent out. As a reminder, we
have established a price of $500 per paver for pavers going in the new Friends Park. These pavers are larger, 12" x
12", and more prominently located, thus the increased price. One of the first ones to be placed will be the one in
memory of Grayson Cuenod. There is also another interested resident who is considering purchasing a paver in this
park. Brennan Reilly is heading up an effort to make a neighborhood donation for this park in honor of the Sacchis.
• A few new pavers have been ordered, beyond what was mentioned at Friends Park. A few new memberships came in
as well.
• As a reminder, keep in mind that the Mission Impossible sociable from PLB07 has been rescheduled from September
29, 2007 to January 26, 2008.
• No new progress has been made on the Membership Newsletter. Margaret, Judy, and I will not be working on this until
after the ball.
