Board Meeting Minutes
February 7, 2007
Friends of West University Place Parks Board met on Wednesday, February 7th, at 11:30 a.m. at
the West University Place Community Building, 6104 Auden Street.
The following were in attendance:

Joni Fichter called the meeting to order at 11:52 a.m.
The subjects of the meeting are as follows:
Approval of the Minutes and Sign-In Sheet -A motion was made by Vicki Grams and seconded
by Margaret Wallace to approve the January 3, 2007 minutes as sent. The motion carried.
Board Reports have been postponed until the March meeting so we can review timeline and
details for the Park Lovers Ball.
New Business
Top Service Club of the Year - Friends of West University Parks, was selected to receive the
Texas Recreation and Park Society - 2006 Service Club Award. Joni Fichter and Donna LaMond
will be going to Padre Island last weekend in February to accept the award. Thank you, Tim, for
nominating Friends.
Citizen of the Year - Joni Fichter was named as The Texas Recreation and Parks Society
(TRAPS) 21-County Region IV "2006 Citizen of the Year." She and Donna attended a luncheon in
TexasCity where Joni accepted the award.
West University Little League will provide a dollar-to-dollar match of gifts up to $5,000 raised at
the Park Lovers Ball.
Old Business
Park Lovers Ball - Vicki Grams, Penny Grams
Final details and timeline were discussed; action items were taken care of; funds to date were
discussed; ATU's $20,000 donation was acknowledged; all were encouraged to help set-up on
Saturday and to attend the ball and to have a great timeH
Alcohol Waiver - A letter to the City Council Board supporting the proposed Alcohol Waiver was
signed by Friends Board members who were present at the meeting. Donna will handle getting
signatures of those members not present today and getting the letter to Tim O'Connor.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 12:00 pm.
