Board of Directors' Meeting
October 5, 1994 * 6:15 p.m. * City Hall
Minutes
Attendance: Ross Frazer, Jere Ahrens, Kurt Jaeckle, Maria Beck, Rhonda Hassenbusch, Harry Briston, Carol
Burke, Linda Gray, Tony Canino, Mark Mailes, Mark Spradling, Beverly Loftis (proxy).
1. Approval of Minutes of 9/7/94 - meeting of 9/7/94 did not have quorum present - no minutes taken
2. Treasurer's Report - Jere Ahrens - $89,098.29 (unaudited- see attached)
3. Committee Reports:
a. Foundations - Ross Frazer and Bob Geary
Linda Gray is cultivating contact @ Wortham Foundation; needs funds sources and uses (Jere Ahrens
will provide) and completed/planned changes/construction (Mark Mailes will provide).
New contact identified with Houston Endowment; Harry Bristol and Beverly Loftis will pursue.
Linda Gray provided lead on Hershey Foundation; one of the Hersheys may be a West U. resident.
Linda Gray, Jere Ahrens, Ross Frazer and Bob Geary will pursue.
b. Parkfest - to be combined w/City's 4th of July celebration in 1995
General discussion of purpose of ParkFest - fundraiser or funraiser/showcase? Carol Burke will gather
a group to brainstorm on date (if not July 4th) and activities.
c. Park Lovers' Ball - Linda Gray
Underwriting requests will be mailed shortly. All FWUP Board members are encouraged to attend and
put a table together or sell a table. See attached for detail. Call Linda Gray with ideas, comments, etc.
d. Grassroots - Mark Spradling
Mark Spradling has obtained a booth @ West University Place Elementary Halloween Carnival
(10/22/94 from 0830 to 1730)to sell tee shirts, ornaments and pavers. He is looking for volunteers to
man same.
5. New/other business
a. Amend bylaws to redefine quorum as four (4) members
After discussion, Harry Bristol motioned that Sections 5 and 5.1 of the bylaws of the corporation be
amended to define a quorum for a meeting as no less than four (4) duly appointed members of the
board. Jere Ahrens seconded the motion and it passed unanimously.
b. Annual election of officers
The following slate of officers was discussed: Ross Frazer, Chairman; Ginni Mithoff, Vice Chairman;
Beverly Loftis, Secretary; and Jere Ahrens, Treasurer. Carol Burke moved that this slate be nominated
and Harry Bristol seconded. The motion passed unanimously.
c. Advisory Board
Ross Frazer will "re-up" current members.
6. Adjournment - motion by Jere Ahrens; second by Carol Burke; unanimous approval.
