Board of Directors' Meeting May 4, 1994 * 6:15 p.m. * Conference Room - City Hall MINUTES Meeting called to order (g3 6:30 p.m. Attendance: Ross Frazer, Mark Mailes, Donna Buja, Jeanne Marosis, Beverly Loftis, Jere Ahrens Other: Carolyn Rappozzo, Lynn Houston, Connie Spencer 1. Treasurer's Report - Jere Ahrens - $171,000 2. Approval of Minutes of 04/06/94 - motion by Beverly Loftis; 2nd by Jeannie Marosis; passed unanimously 3. Committee Reports: a. Foundations - Ross Frazer and Bob Geary - Ross Frazer reported that foundation "assignments" will be made by the end of May. If a board member has not indicated a preference for a foundation, one will be assigned. Prototype letters and information brochures about the Campaign for West U. Parks will be in Mark Mailes' office at the community center. Once a letter is sent, Bob Geary should be copied. Follow up with a phone call to the foundation two or three weeks after the letter is sent. Ross F. further reported that a contribution from some foundation other than Wortham will go a long way toward encouraging Wortham's continued participation. b. Parkfest - Connie Spencer and Linda Masera Connie Spencer reported that the event is fully planned and that the most needed item at this time is volunteers (15 more). This is followed closely by extension cords & card tables. Total anticipated expenses at this time = $4761.42. Ross Frazer reported that $3500 in cash has been raised at this time. In-kind donations bring this total to $4400. c. Park Lovers' Ball - Ross Frazer reported that Gayle Jackson and Ginni Mithoff had successfully recruited Linda Gray to chair the 1995 version of the soiree'. d. Grassroots - Mark Spradling - Mark Spradling was unable to attend the meeting. 5. Nominations for Friends' Positions (August 31, 1994 Term Expiration) - tabled until larger quorum present. 6. Funds Available to W.U. P&RB a) $75,000 committed 6/1993 b) 1994 commitment - tabled for same reason as #5. 6. New/other business Ross Frazer called the public hearing of 5/9/94 on the possible location of a sewer lift station in Colonial Park to the board's attention. Jeanne Marosis reiterated her request for parks/greenspace items which might be used in press releases to our many local publications. 7.
