Attendance: Members: Ross Frazer, Harry Bristol, Bob Geary, Donna Buja, Jeanne Marosis, Linda Gray, Mark Mailes (ex officio), Beverly Loftis, Mark Spradling, Carol Burke, Jere Ahrens Other: Gayle Jackson, Tip Millard, Tamara Armstrong, Cindy Sparkman, Odette Mace 1. Treasurer's Report - Jere Ahrens - $134,050 (unaudited) 2. Approval of Minutes of 1/05/94 - motion by Mark Spradling; second by Bob Geary; passed unanimously. 3. Committee Reports: a. Foundations - Ross Frazer and Bob Geary - Ross Frazer reported FWUP has received the Wortham Foundation's $50,000. He further related that the Wortham Foundation requires publicity regarding the donation be cleared through their office prior to the act. Contact Ross Frazer for more information. Bob Geary distributed the names and contact information for three foundations to each board member. If so indicated, the assignments are based on board members desires. Those remaining are based solely on random selection. If board members want to swap foundations amongst each other, that is alright as long as Bob Geary is kept abreast of the changes. See the attached list for a complete roster. b. Parkfest - Connie Spencer and Linda Masera - Connie and Linda were unable to attend. However, Connie sent a written report (attached) which was read aloud. As regards two issues brought up during the report: Carol Burke will contact City Council about the possibility of a parking space at Colonial Park being raffled off, Ross Frazer will contact City Council about the possibility of beer being served at the carnival. c. Park Lovers' Ball - Gayle Jackson, Chair; Ginni Mithoff, Immediate Past Chair - Gayle reported that the ball is sold out and that $24,500 had already been raised in underwriting alone. Gayle also asked for volunteers to work at the affair. Additionally, the kickoff party held two weeks ago was a rousing success. d. Grassroots - Mark Spradling - Mark Spradling recounted the most recent paver statistics: 46 installed, 12 sold & awaiting installation, and 4 checks he's been told have arrived since his last count. Frisbee Golf - tabled until the next meeting. Corporation Solicitations - Linda Gray - Tabled until a later date. 6. New/other business Jeanne Marosis pointed out additional favorable publicity the FWUP had received in the most recent "West U Magazine." Jere Ahrens espoused the idea that references to Weir Park should contain the geographical reference "on Sunset" since most residents are not aware of Weir Park's actual name. There was general agreement to this policy. Adjournment - There being no other business, a motion to adjourn was entertained.
