4 Board of Directors' Meeting
January 5, 1993
Minutes
Meeting called to order @ 6.30 p.m.
Attendance:
Members: Ross Frazer, Mark Mailes, Beverly Loftis, Mark Spradling, Ginni Mithoff, Reed Dillon, Donna
Buja, Jere Ahrens, Bob Geary, Carol Burke
Other: Gayle Jackson, Carolyn Rappazzo, Johanna Weems, Susan Uecker
1. Treasurer's Report - Jere Ahrens - $84,000
2. Approval of Minutes of 12/05/93 - motion by Mark Mailes; second by Beverly Loftis; passed
unanimously.
3. Committee Reports:
a. Foundations - Ross Frazer and Bob Geary - Ross Frazer reported the Wortham Foundation had
acknowledged its donation of $50,000 to FWUP in writing. The funds are expected to be received by
the end of the first quarter.
Bob Geary reported he will be distributing the names and contact information for three foundations to
each board member. Some of the assignments are based on board members desires. Those remaining
are based solely on random selection. If board members want to swap foundations amongst each other,
that is alright as long as Bob Geary is kept abreast of the changes. Also included in the packages will
be a copy of FWUP's recent application to the Wortham Foundation.
b. Parkfest - Connie Spencer and Linda Masera - Connie Spencer reported there will be a meeting
of the Parkfest '94 committee next Wednesday (January 12, 1994). She will contact the Friends and
advisory board members who have indicated an interest in helping with the carnival regarding the time
and place. Connie also asked if other transportation (from the little league field to Colonial Park) might
be available. Ross Frazer will contact the Park in Houston Center again regarding use of its trolley. The
Park originally declined participation due to the crowded nature of West U.'s streets. This time the
inauirv will be made with the proviso the affected streets (University. Academv, etc.) are kept clear of
