Members: Jere Ahrens, Larry Massey, Mark Spradling, Jeannie, Ross Frazer, Mark
Mailes
Other: Gayle Jackson
1. Committee Reports:
a. Foundations
Ross Frazer reported he had been in touch with Barbara Snyder of the Wortham
Foundation. Ms. Snyder is interested in a site visit and commented that the report
sent to her on FWUP's activities indicated we "had been busy. "
b. Parkfest
Still looking for a chairperson; Larry Massey has some leads; Mark Mailes will
assist.
c. Park Lovers' Ball
Gayle Jackson (1994 PLB Chairman) reported that tables will be $750 & $500
while $100 will admit a couple.
Discussion followed involving the necessity to restrict "big" sponsors (i.e., those
with top billing and their name/logo on the PR) to a single one within an
industry. This was an issue which was part of our learning curve for the 1993
Park Lovers' Ball.
Gayle asked that all FWUP board members begin assembling lists of
firms/individuals which would sponsor or donate.
Advance Payment of $1250.00 to Band (Doppelganger)
Larry Massey motioned, Jere Ahrens seconded and motion passed
unanimously.
d. Grassroots (Pavers, T-shirts, etc.)
i. Pavers - Mark Spradling reported that info on how to purchase a
paver will go in all the parks and in City Currents. Mark
brought up the idea of a dedication ceremony for the pavers
in all the parks.
Larry Massey reported the City Currents will carry more
data regarding the "checkoff" for donations to the Parks.
4. Other Business
i. Bylaws - Discussion of amendments to bylaws to increase the number of
members of the FWUP board to as many as twenty-one (21) members,
redefining a quorum as a simple majority of the then duly appointed
directors (but in no case less than three (3) members total), and

establishing procedures for voting via proxy.
Mark Spradling reported these changes will be incorporated in the draft
he is preparing and be ready to be voted on at the meeting scheduled for
September 1, 1993.
ii. Bissonnet Esplanade - Mark Spradling brought up the idea of contacting
Channel 13 and pointing out their current building project could easily
incorporate a "dress up" of the subject. The Claremont apartment complex
apparently has embellished the corresponding piece of property along the
section of Bissonnet which it borders.
Ross Frazer volunteered to draft a letter.
5. Adjournment
Mark Spradling motioned, Jere Ahrens seconded, passed unanimously.
