Board of Directors' Meeting
June 3, 1993
ATTENDANCE:
MINUTES
Members: Jere Ahrens, Carol Burke, Jeanne Marosis, Larry Massey, Ginni Mithoff, Mark
Spradling, Ross Frazer, Mark Mailes
Other: Gayle Jackson, Danny Jackson, Margaret Sanchez, Tamara Armstrong, Phil Stevensen
PROCEEDINGS:
1. Approval of minutes of previous meeting
Motion - Jere Ahrens; Second - Larry Massey; Passed unanimously
2. Treasurer's Report
From Jere Ahrens - $83,000 (t)
3. Funds Disbursement to Parks & Recreation Board base on review of account history
Jere Ahrens reported the FWUP "overhead" for the last season (1992-93) was
approximately $4800. Mark Spradling estimated his Paver campaign would
require approximately $3000 for the coming year.
Ginni Mithoff motioned the FWUP make $75,000 of the current treasury
available to the Parks & Recreation Board for improvement/enhancement of the
City's parks in accordance with the Master Plan (Tapley-Lunow Architects).
Carol Burke seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
4. Organization of Friends Board:
Discussion followed on how best to utilize the talents available to the FWUP
board. The concensus of the discourse amounted to the following "division of
labor":
a. Foundation Contacts and Requests for Grants
Ross Frazer, Larry Massey & Carol Burke;
b. Parkfest
A chairman is being sought;
c. Park Lovers' Ball
Gayle Jackson, 1994 Park Lovers' Ball Chairman & Ginni
Mithoff, Past Chairman - Gayle Jackson is marshalling the forces
necessary to implement this function; Ross Frazer will keep her
updated on the advisory board replies which select this event;
d. Corporate Underwriting
It was decided each event (Parkfest and the Park Lovers' Ball)
should arrange its own corporate underwriting to avoid
confusion/duplication. The respective chairs of these events will
see to coordination.

e. Grassroots (Pavers, T-shirts, etc.)
Mark Spradling will continue to head the successful Park Paver
Campaign. All members will keep T-shirt sales active.
f. Publicity
Jeanne Marosis volunteered to be Publicity Chairman. Her first
task will be to garner whatever positive publicity is available from
the previously passed motion to distribute $75,000 raised from
citizens, the Wortham Foundation, and the Ignash bequest.
Larry Massey motioned this outline/organization be adopted. Carol Burke seconded and
the motion passed unanimously.
5. Other Business
Discussion regarding the bylaws of the FWUP which reference the number of and
requirements for membership in FWUP ensued. Mark Spradling will draft
changes to incorporate the inclusion of up to 21 board members. P&RB
membership will not be a requirement (same as May, 1993 meeting, but more
board members allowed).
6. Adjournment
Carol Burke motioned, Jere Ahrens seconded, passed unanimously.
