® Recycled Paper Notice of Zoning & Planning Commission Meeting
Notice is hereby given that the Zoning & Planning Commission (Z&PC) and members of the City Council
of the City of West University Place, Texas will hold a meeting on:
February 12, 2008 beginning at 6:15 p.m.
in the Public Works Conference Room of the Public Works Facility,
3826 Amherst Street, West University Place, Texas
The subject(s) of the meeting are as follows:
[Call to order]
1. Minutes. Matters relating to minutes from the January 10, 2008 meeting.
2. Miscellaneous Amendments/Updates Status. Matters relating to the status of proposed amendments to
the Zoning Ordinance, including: (i) garage and driveway regulations, including related setback,
sidewalk, maneuvering area, parking and building regulations; (ii) replacement mechanical
equipment; (iii) old-stock housing, including revised definition and relaxed building regulations for
old-stock housing; (iv) miscellaneous structures located in yards, including mechanical equipment,
fountains, arbors, trellises, sculptures and other similar structures, (v) amending the definition of
"structure," to include canopies, awnings, carport-like items, etc. (vi) regulation of buildings
projecting into side and rear yards, and (vii) related matters.
3. Variances and special exceptions. Matters relating to variances and special exceptions, including: (i)
basic concepts, (ii) recent court decisions, (iii) possible amendment of the Zoning Ordinance to add
criteria and limitations and (iv) related matters.
4. Fences. Matters relating to fences including masonry, stone, and stucco fences; front, rear and side
fences; yard regulations and projections; "virtual" fences; hedges; natural growth fences; and related
matters.
5. Commercial District. Matters relating to the Commercial District, including: the Town Center area
(along University Blvd., Edloe Street and Rice Avenue) JMH site (Rice at Edloe, and adjacent
parking area in the SF-3 District), parking areas, and related matters.
