REPORTS
Sunshine Meals: CCCS is making changes and there will be additional news at the next
Board meeting.
APAC: No report, but an APAC brochure is being printed and will be handed out in the
future.
Council Meeting Report: It was brought to our attention that it is the prerogative of
Council to approve Board Secretaries. Elizabeth Young was notified that she had been
approved. Council has sent back the water increase measure. Tiers of 0-3, 3-9, 9-15 and
15+ were recommended by Council. A Charter Amendment allows increased bidding by
requesting proposals for health care for City workers. A discussion of dogs in the parks
was held. The Rec Center is being improved and made ready. Parks will ask citizens for
usage ideas.
Good Neighbor Team/Flying Squad Report: About 90 Christmas plants were
delivered to residents, and the recipients were most appreciative.
Activity Report: Old Town Spring trip was highly rated. Next Tuesday, St. Georges
Orthodox is hosting a Christmas lunch party.
Hi Neighbor Newsletter: Approximately 2000 newsletters were recently sent out.
Previous Business: Janiss spoke with the Recycling Committee. A notice about
recycling assistance for Seniors will be placed in the newsletter. Board needs to follow
up on the Gray Award, which Rotary is funding.
New Business: An evaluation form for out of town trips was discussed. This
information should be valuable to Staff when planning future events. Elizabeth Young
volunteered to design a form after Staff provides list of information that would be most
helpful to them. The use of advanced orchestra students from Bellaire to provide a
program or entertainment was recommended to Janiss. Janiss has been asked to speak to
an Alzheimer's group, and requested discussion of whether or not this is in the scope of
her job description and could be done on City time. Board agreed that it was and that the
other group could probably reciprocate in some manner.
Announcements: Card for Tom Malloy was handed out for signatures.
Meeting adjourned at 2: 50 PM.
