HomeMy WebLinkAboutssminutes 010804WEST UNIVERSITY SENIOR SERVICES ADVISORY BOARD MEETING MINUTES 1/8/2004 Meeting called to order at 1:52 PM. Attendees: Stan McCandless, John Neighbors, Betty Aillet, Joe Graf, George Harbeson, Jo Lukens, Lyndon McKnight, Mary Ryerson, Kenneth Moore, Carolyn Sacchi, Elizabeth Young, Cathy Wright, Ann Hershiser, Rolla Long, and Joan Johnson. Staff present was Janiss Stump. Council member present was Steven Segal. Absent was Maureen Beck. Guest present was Charles Graf Previous meeting's Minutes were approved without corrections. Previews and Sneak Previews were reviewed. REPORTS Sunshine Meals: Janiss met with Michael Ross and a representative from Sunshine Meals to discuss discontuing the program. If it is not to be continued, alternatives will be offered and transition to another provider will be implemented. West University presently has twenty-five participants. The discontinuation is due to financial and driver problems. APAC: No report. Stan requested a Board member volunteer for us to liaison with APAC. Suggestion was raised that this might be worked into Janiss's schedule so that she could be our liaison. Council Meeting Report: Council voted to raise the water rates as required. An ordinance to allow dogs to walk the perimeter of Colonial Park is scheduled for further discussion. A new Fire Chief is to be voted on. . Good Neighbor Team/Flying Squad Report: No meeting last month. Ned Ross is invaluable with construction projects and ceiling sheetrock work for a resident was recently completed. A work order system and Rotary are working well for the Team. Activity Report: No report. Hi Neighbor Newsletter: No report. Previous Business: (See Sunshine Meals) St. Georges' Christmas party was financed by donations. About one hundred and fifty people attended. New Business: Two drivers will be starting work for Senior Services next week. Announcements: Need Newsletter activities for summer as well as Senior safety tips. Meeting adjourned at 2: 38 PM.
