Wickerham Anna Lay Turner Florence Worstell Doris Rainey Elizabeth McRoberts Harold Smith ABSENT: Oscar Kotteman Jim Council CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order by Jane Breazeal, Chairperson, at 3:30 p.m., who called the roll. MINUTES: The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved and added to by Jane Breazeal who said bridge playing on Monday was to be added to the activity schedule. ANNOUNCEMENTS: 1. A luncheon will be held December 19 - 10:00 - 1:00 - A Christmas party, with singing of carols both in English and Spanish - Joan and her group will cook a traditional Christmas dinner. 2. Next Friday, St. George Church will have a luncheon party for all Seniors. All, including the Board, are invited. Call for reservations. MONTHLY REPORT: The monthly report, attached, was given by Joan Eccles. TREASURER'S REPORT: Ken Pearce reported November 30 balance was $1,509.61. Fund sources: $500.00 donation Bingo City of West University cash advances for Christmas Party Minutes--Senior Services Board--Page 2 APAC REPORT: Mr. Kotteman is ill and is moving to Columbus with his daughter. Mr. Wickerham will take over his job. He will write to Mr. Kotteman. MEALS ON WHEELS: Mrs. Turner's report: St. Vincent De Paul Church will serve Christmas dinner. Turkeys will be cooked by the Priests and served by the congregation. This meal is available to anyone. 2,200 were served last year. Girl and boy scouts supply tray favors. OLD BUSINESS: New furniture for the new wing is falling apart and is being returned to be replaced or repaired. Discussion Group has proved to be a very popular activity. The Tea Dance was called off. It cost more than it took in - lack of interest. Dottie Shaw does a great job with Bingo. It is popular with mobile and partially mobile Seniors. We had some discussion about caring for Seniors in an "Adult Care Center" type service. Ken suggested showing a scheduled movie could help in that respect. Re: Building Use Ken Pearce is writing rules for use of building and fees scheduled for same. He will send a copy to Curtis Cooper. Re: Van Curtis Cooper believes we should have a large vehicle with wheelchair lift, and should hire a driver. This should pro- vide for increased use and service to Seniors. Joan is going to choose the van. NEW BUSINESS: Karate classes should not be held in new wing. Kitchen has much food available for those in need. Ken moved we authorize Joan to use necessary money to help a Senior to pay for car repairs. Gene Hines seconded, and it carried.
