Christmas Party.

Utility Assistance
Joan has submitted for our approval an application to be used by seniors
who wish financial assistance to pay utility bills. The Board suggested
that a blanket authorization to look at the person's bank account be
added to the application. After much discussion re utility assistance
program, the board agreed with Gene Hines' suggestion to go along with
the guidelines outlined for setting up the program submitted by
Donna L. Sims, with a change in the wording in the utility bills to
say: "Please check if your payment includes a $1.00 donation for
utility assistance for those who are physically or mentally impaired."
The Board recommends that cut-off notices from the Water Dept. be altered
so as not to upset clients.
Re: Van
Mr. Harold Smith thinks we need a mid-size van, one which can be driven
by Joan, and one which can handle at least one wheelchair. Joan thinks
a large van will eventually be needed, but a driver should be hired to
go with it. Ken Pearce recalls that $28,000 already allocated for a van
should be enough to buy one proposed by Mr. Smith. After much discussion,
Ken Pearce agreed to go with Joan to take a look and make a decision on
a van which she can handle.
