ROLL CALL:
Roll was called by the Secretary. Everyone was present except
members listed above.
MINUTES:
The minutes of the March Board Meeting were read and approved.
APAC REPORT:
APAC met today in Bellaire. Silver-Haired Legislature Delegates
are proposing to work against changing the current law which says,
Foreclosure on a homestead is not lawful." This keeps banks
from lending money for 2nd mortgages, but protects Seniors who
might get 2nd mortgages and be unable to make payments and end up
losing their homes. APAC will have 15 new vehicles available
soon. They will have food carrying vehicles which keep food warm.
The Silver-Haired Legislators have much influence in Austin be-
cause they are truly interested in Senior Citizens.
MONTHLY REPORT:
The monthly report was read by Joan Eccles and is attached to the
minutes.
MEALS ON WHEELS:
The report was given by Mrs. Anna Lay Turner. Churches are giving
extra money as people give special donations. Mrs. Turner banks
the money and uses it as she sees fit, working with her MOW Board.
One woman gets $107.00 - $110.00 monthly for medicines (for memory
loss and Parkinson's Disease). One gentleman, Socrates, is no

longer supplied with monthly food money. His situation was
taken over by a case worker. MOW provides meals for 40 people
five days a week. Some receipients pay; some don't. Ivan
Johnston is to have his home painted this week-end.
GARDEN CLUB:
The Garden Club report was given by Florence Worstell. This group
is holding their final meeting of the year with installation of new
officers in Galveston.
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Ms. Turner reminded us that Harmony Class at St. Luke's
Methodist Church will repair only houses owned by occupants.
A new group of 8 student nurses made their first visits
this week.
Ms. Turner says Rebecca Lodge will do Ivan Johnston's
laundry. They have supplied him with clothes. He is
very pleased.
Ballet tickets were given to members for tonight's performance.
Ray Dadisman died April 8th.
OLD BUSINESS:
Senior Games:
Some of our Seniors will participate. Sack lunches will
be served here to Bridge players May 6. Joan needs helpers.
Proposed Fees:
Ken Pearce drafted a letter to City Council outlining pro-
posed fees for use of the building.
City car:
Joan says Donna Sims plans to take away the car now in use
when we get the van. (The van specifications are to be pre-
sented to Council this Monday.) Harold Smith moved that
Dahlia Stokes and Joan Eccles draft a letter to Council
stating that we feel there will be a need for the car (now
in use) as well as the van, as originally planned by the
City. Dotty Shaw seconded; motion passed.
NEW BUSINESS:
Wheelchair:
A West University lady sold to Joan a new wheelchair for
$200.00, paid from our funds. It will be useful in the van.
Florence Worstell knows of another wheelchair that we may be
able to get.
