A discus- sion ensued concerning the appropriateness of the board paying seniors' delinquent water bills. In the case at hand (Rosa Har- ris), it was recommended that the city attorney file a request with the title company handling the sale of the seniors' property that all delinquencies owing the city be paid at closing. TREASURER'S REPORT: The Treasurer indicated that as of the present date, the account contained approximately $1,700, which does not include the van fund money. APAC REPORT: Mr. Wickerham informed the Board that APAC met to discuss proposals for services. However, the public address system was not working properly, so the busloads of people attending the meeting were not able to be heard, a decision was made promptly, and the meeting was terminated in an abbreviated fashion. The New Food Company selected to provide meals is Valley Foods, Inc., from Jackson, Mississippi. MEALS ON WHEELS REPORT: Anna Lay Turner wanted to report "how nice it is!" She is pleased to be able to submit a list to senior ser- vices each month for clients in West University who can't afford to pay for their meals and have these meals paid for by the city. Ad- ditionally, Anna Lay credited Mr. Wickerham with having non-designa- ted funds at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church donated to the Meals on Wheels program in the amount of $1,500. She has had no luck in finding a source for reduced prescriptions. GARDEN CLUB REPORT: The Garden Club will begin the fall meetings September 22, 1987, with a coffee and a membership drive. OLD BUSINESS: 1. Van Update. Curtis approved the letter to be circulated to all van fund contributees. The letter will be sent after the van arrives. The bid for the van was selected and the van should be delivered within the next few days. For the time being, Nan and Joan will be the designated drivers.
