REPORT OF APAC - October 1, 1987
Some of the service awards -meals, transportation, etc. - are being
contested. One group - Union & Progress - failed to meet some
requirements, and they also failed last year. Hearings are now
being held chaired by Dr. Haughton.
Final funding for 1987/88 is not yet known. Some feel it will be
the same as the last fiscal year of October 1, 1986 to September 30, 1987.
Silver-Haired Legislature: Adopted new by-laws. They are also working
on a new election manual. The feeling is the SHL is a success and is
providing pertinent information for regular legislators.
Southwest is providing 25 round trips to "Home for the Holidays".
"Castastrophic Care" is a subject - Medicare, including other costs,
will rise. Area Agency on Aging will move on November 14 to
8000 Stadium Drive - the north entrance to the Astrodome. (It was
formerly downtown).
