Old Business--Continued
Ken Pearce went to see the Communications Committee who

share experiences. They are thinking about a Historical
Commission to update history of West University.

APAC MEETING - NOVEMBER 5, 1987
Bellaire Professional Building
The entire meeting was given over to hearing and discussion of the
report by Mrs. Doris Towne, Co-Chair of the committee receiving
"Proposals For Service" for the coming fiscal year of October, 1987
thru September, 1988. This report covered the Committee's activities
from June to the present time.
Meetings began early in June followed by hearing from all the organi-
zations proposing to provide services for the elderly not able to
provide for their own needs, such as, meals, health services of all
kinds, travel needed for some of the services, etc. Later, in
September, we met twice with Dr. Haughton to try to reconcile some
differences with one group, concerning their proposal.
Mrs. Towne, with some Committee members, attended four meetings of
Houston City Council in an effort to settle satisfactorily certain
differences with one of the organizations. Council voted for the
support of the organization's proposal - probably because of lack
of information and the short time before the services would be
needed.
A representative for the Texas Department of Aging, Mr. Jerry Ribnick,
spoke of the interest the State had in the APAC activities and the
great number of people needing the various kinds of assistance. Fund-
ing has not yet been determined for the year.
The nominating Committee presented a list of names being considered
for APAC officers for the coming year.
Meeting adjourned.
